Yeeeeaaars ago (2009), I did this podcast called Telling of Tales for a few months. I never intended to stop doing it and certainly didn't intend for it to lie dormant for three years, but various things conspired against me managing to get back on it.

Well, now it's back! And this is the first new episode!

Aside from a bump in equipment quality, I also now have three years of experience as a professional actor and avid user of Audible, so the podcast itself should have an overall bump of quality.

As such, WRITERS! Would you like to submit one of your existing stories? I'm looking for serials, flash and short fiction of all kinds. I'm looking at some stuff on Weaponizer as well as other places, but it's always good to be directed toward something specific.

Hope you like it, and I would love some feedback on what works and what doesn't. :)

I'd absolutely be interested; feel free to choose whatever you like from my Weaponizer entries, or I can give you something else if none of those work for you.

Mag, your voice is absolutely amazing. I just want to keep listening to it. Edgar says you have serious BBC potential, heh.

Thanks a lot! :) Next week's is a children's fable by Oscar Wilde called The Selfish Giant. Doing East London and Northern accents in that, which is interesting... Because I'm not good at accents, but this podcast is a safe place to try them out for a sentence or two. I could have skipped Northern, but it was the voice of the North Wind, so it kind of had to be!

Faux: I'll definitely have a good root through. Any in particular you are proud of or think would suit?

Argos: Hee hee! Thank you so much, and give Edgar my thanks. :D

Have a look at these; I think they'd lend well to spoken word:

    The Broken Hallelujah

    Seawinds

I was actually thinking about Seawinds. :) Broken Hallelujah is a bit on the long side, but I'll give them both a good read and see what feels right.

I cannot wait, and I want to thank you for doing this. It's always such a charge to see how other creatives interpret my brain leavings. I AM EXCITE

If you need help with the fake word pronunciations, let me know, if it eases your process. I have no problem with you interpreting the made-up words however you feel necessary, though.

If you have Out of Place, Out of Time volume 1, you can use my story Walking past my life from there, Magnulus!

I do not have it! I tried to find out where to download/ order, but the threads seemed to be about it being edited, still.

@Magnulus - OOP, OOT vol. 1 is up on Amazon for $.99, but I can toss you a free rough copy (if I can find the original files) later tonight.

ETA - Feel free to use any of my stories from the book that strike your fancy as well. It would be an honor to get Magnulized.

Second episode is up! The Selfish Giant - Oscar Wilde. Next week is Seawinds Time! :)

Thanks, Steevo! I bought the digital edition at Amazon.co.uk and will have a read through. :)
Vorn, I really like your piece, but it would feel weird to read a first-person female narrative as a man. I'll definitely save it for later, though, in case a woman joins the "team".

Ah, c'mon, Mag, you gotta read something in a female first-person.

If it helps, I have some gender-ambiguous stuff I never got published. If you're not already too inundated with stories.

I wouldn't mind reading it, I'm just worried others would mind it, considering that I've never actually come across an audiobook where the main character was female but the reader was male, even in third person. I dunno, I probably wouldn't react too much to a male voice on a female character, though I might get a bit confused if the gender wasn't specified early on. I'm just worried someone will hear it and think that I'm... uh... Something. I dunno. Maybe I will read it. :) If not, I'll check if one of the female actresses I've worked with would like to do it.

Believe me, I'm not inundated at all. Would love to read your stories. :)

You're absolutely right, of course. If I'm going to position myself as anything, it should be as a fairly "anything-goes" type of podcast with a focus on what sounds good in your earhole rather than what's "appropriate". So I've recorded it just now. It came out fairly well, I think. Yours will be out on the 21st of this month. I'm trying to get to a point where I'm at least a month ahead - if not two - just in case I suddenly get work and I'm unable to do them for a few weeks.

Now I just need to figure out how you pronounce your fucking name, JANOS. :D

You'll pronounce it like you mean it, and you'll like it, damn you!

Also: thank you man, cool that you picked the story up! Excited to hear the end result.
