So, I'm in Edinburgh for the next two nights (visiting from Canada).
What should I do? Where should I eat? (I'm staying across from the zoo and I'd rather walk instead of drive.)
Anyone want to be silly and meet my wife and I?

there's not a massive amount to do in Corstorphine other than the zoo, to be honest, definitely head into town (cross the road and get a bus, parking in town sucks) and see the castle and the old town and all that stuff. By most accounts the Camera Obscura is the best touristy type attraction in embra.

If I wasn't working silly shifts I'd definitely buy you a pint :(

Went there two years ago, it was fun. You should try the deep fried Mars bars, just for the hell of it (unless you have a heart condition). Ask the locals, they'll probably know where it is. The worst part is that they actually do taste better than normal Mars bars, even though they look like dry turds.

Also, plenty of standup there, unless that just happens during Edinburgh Fringe.

Ask locals about deep-friend mars bars and you'll get a face full of laughter. :)

So does this mean you're in town tomorrow (Saturday)? Get the bus into town, we'll get a coffee! My number is +44 Zero Triple-Seven 917 4116.

Pow -- Thanks! Went into town last night, walked the Royal Mile with my wife and an old friend. What kind of shifts are you working? We're about at strange times.. I didn't realize you lived up here..

Krushdbug -- That sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen. I'll have to try it!

Magnulus -- Yes, in town Saturday, leaving some time on Sunday. Three of us are planning to head into the Scottish Museum today. I'll give you a ring at a more reasonable hour than right now and we'll figure something out. I'll use my buddies phone (hopefully he brings it) so it'll be a local call. I cringe at the thought of roaming charges from Canada...

Warped Savant: Yes! The deep shame of having to acknowledge that you actually enjoyed what you just ate is a feeling that must be experienced.

I could serve as a local guide, but I'm not very active at the moment as my arm is broken.

If you're still here tomorrow and interested in military history at all, Edinburgh Castle is a solid investment of a morning or afternoon.

The Zoo is also great as well as convenient, although you have to prebook (or get a return) to see the pandas there's a massive amount of other animals there.

Eating something other than deep-fried Mars bars - I always suggest Illegal Jack's on Lothian Road for Mexican, Tex-Mex and (if feeling adventurous/insane) Tex-Mex Haggis.

Krushed -- Sorry, mate, I didn't get a chance to try one.

Oxbrow -- it's all good. I had a friend that I've known online for near on 5 years now show me around. Saw the museum, didn't get a chance to see the castle. We ended up to eat at places that my buddy knew and they both worked out well.

Magnulus -- Thanks again for meeting up with us, that was a pleasant afternoon. If ever you're out in Vancouver, Canada, let me know and we'll meet up again.
