Well, it's September, so that makes it TECHNICALLY Fall, right? So while some are weeping with joy as the little brats are heading back to school, and some of us are weeping because they are the ones getting those brats, or even if you hate all children, we can ALL agree that this is one hell of a place to see really great art, so quit reading and start posting, ya talented bastards!

Here's my first salvo: Pacific Rim Fan Art, because I just wanted to, OK?

Yeah, it's sweet and mushy, and girls will squee over it. I DON'T CARE, I LOVED THAT @#$$%% MOVIE!

Love the purple outline that goes around the girder and her contour. As always nice perspective and typography too.

    Hated that movie though!

    drawing

Trying to devise ways to make figure drawings more graphically constructed. At some point this will amount to something, is the hope.

@oddbill - I like where this is going. Is that pastel?

@iaviv - yes, pastel. It's what I've mainly been working with these past few years. I dipped back into oils briefly but am so bad with it. Until I get the patience to start again from square one, it'll stay pastels for a while.

Also, your character designs are very nice!

To start the fall off, I finished a digital version of my Sky Pirate drawing:

    Parragrin: Sky Pirate remastered

Pretty happy with this one. I can identify a multitude of things I need to work on in future drawings, but I had a lot of fun with the shading and linework and muscle tone and know exactly how I can get better next time. I'm finding art a lot more fun now than I did a few years back, like I've found the WILL to learn. I am by no means a professional-level artist and probably won't be for years, but I'm heartened by the progress I've made and find a lot of joy in making mistakes and learning from them now.

Nice work, all - Very solid start on this batch!

After my Obama "I Have A Dream" painting killed the summer thread, i'm off in a completely different direction from the recent work:

Don't mean to be flooding these art threads, I've just been so abnormally productive recently!

    Here's the continuation:

Also, if anyone is interested the Kickstarter for my last comic is up here. The original art incentives are already gone (for now!) but there's still some other goodies and you can see me and my partner being dorks in the video.

Thanks to everyone on this thread for giving me a regular daily art fix, I've had nothing to contribute for a while, but the return of the RR's helped get me motivated again.

    English Hawk v Welsh Hawk

Its not very imaginative - just a straight rendering based on photo's I took at last years Conwy river festival, the credit really goes to the gents from Coastal Hawks who as well as being so brilliantly attired for the day, posed for me and really let me get up close to the hawks in spite of huge crowds.

More character design from that comic I'm trying to figure out.
    sonfather
I'm not very good with naming my characters. Maybe someone here can help? I guess it's worth a shot, and I have nothing right now.
These are father and son; I already have a family name and a name for the son (on the left) - Lance Förstner. They are of German decent and the father used to be a forest ranger. Any suggestions for his first name?

He looks like an Oskar or an Otto or an Udo to me.

@oddbill - Thanks! You're good at this! But of course now I actually need to choose one... Hmmm...

Go with Otto - it rolls well with the last name you've chosen, and it's the more familiar, so it'll do it's job and stay out of the way of your story.

I'm now debating between Otto and Philipp (or Flip which is funny, but also FF- Flip Förstner. Superhero name!). Otto seems to roll off the tongue more easily (combined with Förstner) but Flip is funny... It's a tough call. I'll give it a few days.
    Thanks again for the suggestions!
