I am following this out of spite, to see Shakey and his silly lines killed off for marring a good story.

Oh my! It seems that Shakey has lost his pen! What else could go wrong?

On second thought, forget it. The reveal is too good to spoil.

After ALL that....just a little bit of trim and she wants him to get off - and not in the good way?!!!

    The fuck?

    That's a reasonably impossible 'point of no return' - I don't think I've ever felt so bad for poor Shakes. {snickers at Shakey}

    More! We demand more!

Great read once again, Si. Man, I think we've all been in that moment when you're brains not working right and you're trying to finish but the gal's not having it. Sucks.

Also, Crossed. On a mother fucking boat.

Oh yeah - that fuckin' boat headed to shore. All I could think was Rab's, "boats sink, islands don't".

Yeah, but ramming one with a cruise liner could be a messy affair.

Well, Fuck. That's one huge pile of shit about to hit the fan.

Also, as Dora is now a crossed and she knows about the entire affaire, I suspect Tab = fate worse than death.

He left his pen! And the look on Gamekeeper's face when he found it is an instant classic.

Has Shaky lost his mind that he thinks toying with Games is a good idea?!

Thought no Crossed Jackson was a missed opportunity. But now we get angry Captain Crossed on the Hate Boat Express!

Looks like Cava's about to have an extinction! Can't bloody wait--ahem!--I mean, oh what a terrible event.

Edit to add: read it again and it's more likely Shaky accidentally dropped the pen. Ah, who knows with that guy?!

Wait, a random thought has just occurred to me:
-Cava is a place that Teresa's group of Crossed aren't allowed to touch, because Shaky is there and all.
-The Crossed heading straight to the island are Dora and the rest of her people that didn't die during the rape-killing
-Teresa would most likely be very angry if Shaky is hurt, and she's the boss.

So... Will Teresa's gang come to rape-kill Dora and her Crossed crew and save Cava for the day Teresa says they can have it? :O

I had the same thought, graph46. Drift Fleet crossed vs Aoileen's crossed vs Cava-ites in all out 3 way bloody war. I guess it's also possible that the nun has control over the drift fleet, and they're operating under strict orders.

Also, I don't think Shaky dropped the pen on purpose. In the frame before the shot of the pen on the ground, it appears to be falling accidentally out of his pocket while he's sprinting. Not sure if the frame of the GK is just a flashback image in Shaky's mind or the GK's reaction to finding Shaky's dropped pen, either.

Damn! I love the way this story is both written and illustrated. It truly reads like a mystery. I find myself re-reading and hyper-scrutinizing each page for little details. I'm reminded of one of my childhood favorite mystery/picture books, 'The 11th Hour'. It's kind of like that, except with way more rape and murder.

Great job Si, Lee, and Jaun on another stellar chapter. Couldn't ask for a better intro to Volume 4.

Season FOUR!! Shakey's still shit scared of the gamekeeper!? How many body parts does he need to lose before he isn't. And we get another twist with cross crossed Dora thrown in. So 2 huge unanswered questions ran away from and more damned questions thrown in!!

More twists than M Night Shyamalan but here they're not obvious and retarded :) What a tvist!!

So I suppose I can give up on my hope that Tab is ok.

Interesting, they're not armed with guns.

... But Dora is still holding her handgun as far as I can see O.o

oh, great, it's been way too long since I started reading Crossed stories to remember if the Crossed can normally handle guns or only a select few have the required self-control to aim them properly. Or everybody can shoot them, but then they run out of ammo and discard them because the guns themselves are much more boring weapons than the pointy sticks, bars, and anything else they come across.

Which confirms they're on a mission of kidnap/capture, with only a side order of slaughter.

@ gragh46 Crossed have no problem with guns, and even give them their own twitsts: Remember the first mini-series and the "jerking off on bullets" bit? (Christ, what have I done with my life, that I would write a sentence referring to a "jerking off on bullets" scene).
@ Michael Wayne I think that a diversion is more likely. Since the boat people certainly had a number of guns (both given by and taken from the Cava-ites), if they don't have them, as astutely pointed out by JohnnyRocket(I had totally missed this), it makes sense that they were deliberately taken away by the Nun in order to reduce their lethality. This is a ruse to keep our heroes' attention over here, while something else happens over there.

And then, of course, there is the significance of Shaky dropping his pen. Who finds it first, Nun or Gamekeeper, and what will they make of it?

A final bit of praise for the artist: that shot of the little group of Cava-ites clustered there on the shore, with their guns, gassing the pipe. Man, it drove home how vulnerable and precarious their position is. At first, you see the guns, and the gas pipe and how they are prepared, but then you see that several of them are very old women, and there are a couple of children, and just how few there are. Really stuck with me.

That pen is a total Chekhov's Gun.
