Anyone have any thoughts on this? I have to admit, I'm quietly excited.

why couldn't they have just made him speak in his normal god damn voice, I'm old enough not to require him to be a brit to be able to understand who they fuck he is

what's his normal voice? What kind of accent does he have normally? Isn't being a brit like 50% of John Constantine's character definition?

The guy playing Constantine in the series is Welsh, so he is a Brit, but not English.

IIRC constantine is from Liverpool, and its just lazy writing to make his englishness a major feature of his character. The guys accent is fucking atrocious. I couldn't work out where the hell he is from, and certainly couldn't be bothered to google it.
That said, I'll still give it a watch

Pretty sure that's just a Welsh accent.

He's from Swansea (Which is indeed in Wales). I know this because he did the voice acting for Assassin's Creed IV.

I noticed he sounded a lot like that specific Welsh accent, hadn't realised it literally was that guy. He looks different without the pirate outfit and the being a computer game character.

@Scrymgeour: Yes, John's originally from Liverpool but ran away to London as a teen.
"its just lazy writing to make his englishness a major feature of his character"

What. The. Fuck? You're saying the show actually getting the characters country of origin right is lazy writing? How, exactly? Would it be lazy writing for James Bond to be English? Sherlock Holmes?

Yes, the accent isn't perfect, but that's not the same thing at all.
