It's Thursday! It's mid-afternoon in London! It's another wrongheaded morning in Mericky! Everyone in Australia is dead from spiders and snakes and poisonous accents, apparently. And it's time for more Crossed hideosity!

    Episode 73, live and free-to-air.

Remember: Not safe for work, not safe for minors, not safe for people of a nervous disposition, not safe for HP Lovecraft's bushy-mustachioed grandpappy.

Well, daaaamn. I never really liked the cheesemaker, but still, sad way to go for him. especially when he had probably just saved his life considering my guess for Tab's unfinished words is "you shit (dumped me there when I loved you and then this happened and blah blah blah I'm going to rape kill you)". Still, Tabitha :(

I'm also getting a deja-vĂ¹ of the "lucky, lucky cunt" times. Aminah (RIP, she was a pretty nice background character) gets 4 crossed on her as she tries to escape, zombie Shaky gets no attention while walking. And eh.. the surviving Cava people are pretty nice for not telling Shaky to snap out of whatever in the middle of the shitstorm, I guess.

I wonder if the baby in the middle of the road is the one whose bones are featured prominently in Teresa's boat

Great as usual. Poor tab didn't even last the night.

GREAT WEEK!! Definitely a big step with the "off'a the island" talk, though admittedly with three fuckin' ships bearing down on you there's very little recourse. (And they must have taken a fairly big ammo hit killing off the first wave.)

I can't believe he tried to ask Tab about the baby...but I'm perfectly fine with him plugging Mr. "magical cheese maker" in the grape for blasting his Crossed baby-mama!

Damn good chapter. Really freaking damn good.

Reminds me of some of the best qualities of the Walking Dead series, really. Where what matters isn't that someone gets killed, but how it's done and who does it. I honestly couldn't even remember who the cheesemaker was, but seeing him go that way still hit me. On the preceding page you know there's a chance of it happening, and you're waiting for it, because it's one of those things that will or won't happen, but when it happens it's another hit for the character. The following catatonic state is very understood.

Granted the crossed probably don't have great navigational abilities, but they could still give chase to the escaping Cavaites on water anyway. Then again, they are headed for the island where they will run aground.

the driftfleet was stationed out in the sea, east of cava. The Cavaites will probably try to go west, towards the other islands. The bigger ships probably won't be able to pursue them there that easily, but they are going to have to leave pretty much everything behind, and the other side has their own Crossed (Teresa's crew for starters)

How many people are on those ships? Looked like the main force was on the first ship. I SOOO need a flash back now to find out how the entire drift fleet got taken over, but there's no-one left now to tell the story And... hmm, if they DO run, will the other crossed on those islands counter attack these new crossed? Dunno how it works. If all that wave of Crossed taken out, wonder if the islanders could get up on the ship now it's probably empty and use THAT to mount a defense. That might be what he means to leave the island. The other ships will run aground, the crossed pour out, storm across the island, only to see everyone on the cruise ship raining death down upon them.
Odd how Tab seemed to pause, she was manic last episode, and started happy, but then finding that picture of Shakey (wonder why she was looking for it in the first place, doesn't seem instant gratification like they usually are), there was a pause, wonder how she'd have reacted if Shakey hadn't been there, and if the Cheesemaker hadn't burst in. We'll never know! arggh!
When you thought things couldn't get worse, tada!

Hey all, long time reader - first time poster here.

Definitely a shocker of a chapter. Especially the quick dispatch of the cheese-maker.

I don't think they'll get on the first cruise ship. My thoughts are they'll get on the row boats and head out to the Aussie's speedboat (its still in play right? - maybe that'll be another discovery...)

As for the baby in the street - I don't think its related to Teresa's boat. I'm thinking its going to tie in to how Teresa gets turned. Some kind of trap similar to the one used on the sortie (remember the Crossed toddler in the pond?). Teresa will convince Shakey to go save the kid, then BLAM - Crossed chase with the two of them getting separated.

There's my few cents on the situation.

Nice circle back to Tab's story where art brought back a glimmer of her younger lover. Also nice that it was the first thing we saw her sketching, a sketch of Shaky's face.

Of course, the second time it has happened pretty much proves her theory. And makes it all that much more horrible. Unlike Zombies and the like, the original person is still there just twisted and fucked up in the worst possible way.

    Had to sign up.

Just the only "comic" I can't wait for.
Is Tab actually dead? This story is awesome.
    Carry On.

Looking at the point of bullet impact, it's a potentially survivable shot. Danger of bleeding out if left without intervention for too long. As for the pregnancy, as fetal and maternal circulations are shared, well that should answer that question.

Damn, the lurkers are coming outta the woodwork. Just wanna welcome @eatingjimmy and @Hawk to the coolest message board on the interweb. And much respect to @gragh46 for the guess about the baby and the skeleton on Theresa's boat. Sounds very plausible. I'm just blown away by the mood and pace that this season has started with. You barely have a moment to breathe. Waiting patiently for my vol 3 WYWH hardcover.

Holy crap. Been following this comic for a few months. Such a great story.
I felt like I could relate to shaky there:

Something traumatic happens: ends up totally in his own zone and ignores everything else.

Oh, god, why Jim's death? Shaky's finger slipped, it was an accident, why'd it happen?! Oh, god.

This whole thing is just the Nun's plan to drive the Cavaites off the island and into her arms. Hence only the skipper having a gun. Are we headed towards a Twilight Zone / "I am Legend" ending where the uninfected are the impediment to a new and sustainable social norm? Or just a rape/torture holocaust designed to drain the last of Shakey's sanity?

So much for the "Keep away because we're strong" warning he gave the nun.
  9.  (11247.19)
@MrBogey - Exactly what I was thinking. I bet Shaky feels like an asshole now... Among dozens of other reasons, I'm sure. Either way, he's eating those words of warning right now.

A little bit of disappoint that crossed Tab didn't stick around a little longer, but I guess that's what this whole series is about. Another fantastic ass clenching issue, gang. Keep up the good work.

Wait, Cheese guy had a name that was mentioned?

Also, not confirmed Tabitha is dead yet, people have survived all kinds of shootings in this universe (case in point Mr shot in the back).
