I wouldn't say I "liked" Des but he's been a good character for setting the tone of the series. I wouldn't even stand there and try to shoot him. That's a Run For Your Fucking Life moment.

I just licked an envelope. Tasted salty.

Holy shit boys, this is really ramping up. That was probably the best turning we've ever seen. From the moment-he-realizes-it look in his eyes, to the confession, to the red "has" thrown in as he turns. Fuck this is great. I'm going to be real sad when Cross ends, but I guess I have X-Force now. Love the book Si, keep it up!

Also, fucking dez. You know, Admiral Ackbar? "You wot, mate?"

    @ marsrover21

I know that in one of the Crossed Badlands series, someone tries to explain to one of the Crossed that something is just like the movie Wargames before remembering "Oh wait, I'm not talking to people." followed by "Never mind."

That scene you're describing reminds me of a similar one in 28 Days Later, which along with its sequel is probably the closest thing to Crossed on film at the moment. The scene at the start of 28 Weeks Later where Don impressively legs it is the most Crossed thing ever where "He who runs away, lives to fight another day ... or more realistically, run away some more, which to be fair is the smart thing to keep doing.". Actually, now that I think about it there's also a moment comparable to an envelope licking moment for a major character in that film too.

As for the house with the X on the roof and the link to the photograph of what I presume is the real life house in the same location from Drew455 ...

That's some top level effort and research by the creative team right there.

I have been reading this series since the beginning, and would just like to ask: please, PLEASE don't be going where I think you are going with the Adele arc. It's super predictable.

Sorry, I've been wracking my brains for a while now ... but who's Adele? Is this a Badlands thing or have I not been paying sufficient attention to the goings on here?

I'm going to guess so.. I haven't checked badlands, I prefer reading the entire story in one go with those.

So much for my theory on Teresa not being the one who poisoned the envelope. The incoming conversation should be pretty awesome, though

Oh, Shaky, Shaky, you little cunt. Trying to sow discord between Aoileann and Moses, by framing him as a pervert (never mind that the old boy was probably still mourning his wife, among other things). Only it didn't work... I shudder to think what other ideas he came up with, and how it all went to hell.

Yeah, looks like the theory of Aoileann poisoning the envelope in order to get Shaky was pretty much correct, only the wrong man licked it. The GK's and Shaky's upcoming conversation ought to be interesting.

I think MrGask is referring to the Nun and just mis-typed her name.

Another fantastic episode. I liked the silent, impressionistic, way Shaky's return and the scene with Des' daughter was handled. It is something that has happened so many times, that the mind fills in the dialog and all we really need at this point are a couple of keyframes. I can't wait to hear what Gamekeeper has to say. And will the Nun be creeping up while Shaky is on the phone? Or perhaps Cava will be attacked while Shaky is away, especially since she surely knows that he came to the standing stones alone.

I just don't understand why they wouldn't just like capture shaky and spit on him or something. They pretty much have Cava under their control, why go through an elaborate ruse to turn him crossed.
