    Okay so let's follow up on the New Year's resolution thread and see just how bad we want it.

    If you're new to these threads - or if you fell off the wagon - No sweat! Forget about January and New Year's Resolutions and all that crap and demand better of yourself today!
    Voice: Well I fret about the biz for more than 8 hours a day. So... I need a bit more action than just thinking, but I am calling this favorable because I feel every day my responsibility to my career. I have a massive obstacle in not being able to record with any ease. I'm trying to solve this and/or get around it. Getting around it means more networking and I've been making an effort to be more connected, reach out to more classmates and teachers and keep work conversations going. i've had a lot more VO conversations this month than possibly any month before now. I like that.
    Burning Man: Decided to pass on getting a ticket this month. Has to happen by May, but I have to have the full price in my savings, and I don't yet.
    Japanese: *sobs*
    weight loss: Ugh. Either gained a pound or plateau'd. Whatever. Not exercising enough and had a few too many big meals out.

    Personal project: This week I had an idea for a personal project, that's progress, right? Right?
    Exercise an' shit: I've found no excuses to overindulge but I've found no motivation to step up my exercise. Going to get one of these here newfangled phone apps to galvanise myself.

    I got a new pair of boots. They are the most comfortable heels I have ever worn in my life. Oh man. They feel like they're actually centred properly under my feet, like actually where I put my weight down. Crazy!

    The heartburn seems to be waning but not going away entirely. My new shiny improved diet seems to be helping, for sure. I think maybe eating smaller portions, more slowly, is another thing to work on.

    EDIT: Oooops, I mistook this for the fitness thread. Edits accordingly.

    1) Get the weight down to 72kg, where I got a good start but an equally good rebound last year. Preferably by June. I'm starting from 81.5kg as of yesterday.

    Right, I made rather good progress this month. Starting from 81.5 in the beginning of January, I've been down to 77.2kg at the lightest, and it didn't require any sort of dehydration trick or anything, just eating what I eat and doing what I do. Moar info in the Fitness thread.

    2) I can currently climb four out of five 5C routes on boulder with confidence. By the end of the year I want that to apply for 6A.

    No much progress here. I feel much more confident on the wall, but it doesn't translate to better grades.

    3) Publish one IF game for either Spring Thing or IFcomp.

    I have two projects underway - I had to ditch Spring Thing since there was just no time, but IFcomp is still looking good.

    4) Publish at least one short story.

    Done! A story of mine is out in a Finnish anthology of ghost stories published a couple of days back (coincidentally the same one I sent for the late Weaponizer). I have two drabbles that will be out in a story-per-week service this year and in an anthology in the end of the year.

    5) Start on the second novel.

    Not much happening here.

    1. Be smarter about money.

    I managed to get to the end of the month without running out of money or food stamps, so that's something!

    2. Make money.

    Nope. Nothing.

    3. Focus my notions in to tangible projects with progress.


    4. Work on confidence and independence.

    I've been quite sick, but I've still been going through positive thought patterns and feeling a change in my attitude.

    5. Eat strategically.

    This is harder than I thought it would be on my budget.

    6. Make more effort to have friends.

    I've actually gone out to see friends I'd not seen in 10 years, so... yay!

    7. Get rid of the piles.

    This process has been a bit stalled.

    8. Get my stuff from my Dad's attic.

    Ha ha ha ha no.

    9. Stretch. Often.

    I'm not supposed to stretch, but I'm going to have to exercise.

    10. Take better care of my appearance.

    I've been in my PJs for days and I forgot when I last showered, so... this isn't improving much.

    I missed the 1st check-in, so here we go:

    1) Job. Again. Found one! Surprisingly fast, actually, so that was nice. I wasn't too keen on it at first because I wasn't sure it was what I wanted to be doing, but I decided that I'm at a point in my life where I just need to rebuild savings to get to a safe space. After I do some of that, I'll re-evaluate and see if I want to stay here or move on to something else. The nice thing about this new gig is that even though it's not my ideal lot in life, it's a full-time permanent position, so I won't have to worry about a contract running out like it did last time.

    2) Health. I really need to start working out again. Nope, haven't got there. I have no excuses.

    3) Creative stuffs. Haven't done much but I did have an art date with some friends and I made some progress on a drawing. It's not good, mind you, but I'm trying.

    4) Read my backlog of books. Also nope. I started a new one, instead.

    5) Play my backlog of video games. Getting there! Played through Costume Quest, Gone Home, a few tries of Don't Starve, and now working through Dead Space. Hooray my steam sale purchases aren't a waste of money!

    6) Find balance in life. It will be difficult to achieve 1-5 all at once. Also no. I had a brief time of unemployment that I basically treated like a lazy vacation, and now with the new job I'm having to figure out how to manage my time with an unstable, rotating schedule with lots of overtime hours. There were many nights the last week I came home too tired to do anything. I'm hoping after a few more weeks there I can be fully acclimated to the new gig and make progress on proper life balance.

    1. Lose at least 20lbs - Definitely getting there. Tight clothing is fitting comfortably now. Stomach going down.

    2. Run a 5K marathon - Can still run 4k without having to walk, but need to take a break due to physical exertion.

    3. Take on more freelance work - Just finished a photo job over the weekend.

    4. Get a place of my own. Or at least get closer to that outcome. -The saving account, it grows.

    5. Cook more vegetarian/vegan meals. - My lunches for the weeks are basically the best black beans ever.

    6. Do more Thirsty Wench stuff. - OH SHIT I HAVE A GUEST POST TO WRITE.

    7. Work on trust issues and depression - Nope. And anxiety is pretty high as well. Looking at clinics.

    8. Be a better friend. - I think I've been doing good with that.

    9. Take better care of my appearance. - Slipped for a bit, but have now decided that the days where I want to wear my PJs all day will be the times I just put on a dress and baggy buttoned shirt. Like today. Because god damn, I'm hating pants today. Otherwise bathing is...uh...I'll be right back.

    10. Finish my pulpy ultra-violent novella. - Not yet.

    1. HEAD -- Day #10 on the meds, so far so good. No side effects other than a slight dryness of the mouth. On the other hand I seem to be getting weird little panic/anxiety attacks, but that's probably just the general feeling of inevitable doom manifesting as a wonderful flight/fight reaction.

    2. MONEY -- Housing benefits are coming in, unemployment checks still pending. I paid my rent today, though! And I still have some money left over! Hooray! Aaaaand my electricity is back.

    3. GUITARRERY -- Waiting on an order for some parts to come in, then I'm good to go. I have plans.

    4. MUSIC -- DJ things still getting kudos, and a possible band project in the works.

    5. BUTTS -- HAHAHAnope. Although yesterday I got called cute by a random girl, so that's something. (In fact, her opening line was: "Hi! I came over to hit on you!" But then she went off for a smoke, and after her return did not pursue said plan of action. Lesson: I need to start smoking?)

    6. BE HERE -- Still in a lurky lurk mode. I see all.

    @taphead: Don't start smoking! If you must, go outside with said cute girl while she makes herself stinky and hang out and then come back in. But don't get addicted to that stuff. Please? Pretty please?

    @trini: Heh. No, that's not the plan. Even though I do enjoy the occasional cigar and the undeniable fact that nicotine works, I'm not really looking to become a smoker. :)

    February was a great big pile of... something almost but not entirely resembling compost. I decided against beating my head against a brick wall re: edinburgh at the end of the month and the stress relief was almost instantaneous.

    Just need to decide/find what the heck I'm going to do in any strand now. There are words but I am generally without direction and basically vascilating between joy at other people getting to do things (even when its what I want to do) and ridiculous jealousy that other people have been 'picked' to do the things I want to do.

    Ridiculous basicially. Watching you all with the joy end of the mood stick :-) ....

    1) Health/Weight Loss: I haven't weighed myself recently, but I'm fairly certain with my recent eating and sleep habits, I'm not losing anything.

    2) Work on Website/Sell Art: Trying to do my taxes/paperwork for this right now. Signed up for a class to push myself back into drawing/creating again. Made masks for boyfriend and myself for a party he threw. Might put up some art in a hallway at my mom's work. I guess that kind of counts for something?

    3) Consistently Clean Apartment: At the moment, my apartment is chaos, but a lot of that has to do with spending a bunch of my time at my boyfriend's for the party and packing at the last minute and then coming back and just not getting around to putting everything away yet. But I've had to have my place be clean for the landlady to show my place off to a buyer and she said it looked great, so I'm going to put that under mostly win.

    4) Work on mental health/have healthy relationships/Don't turn into my sister: So far so good with boyfriend. Been some awkwardness at work recently (unrelated to boyfriend), need to sort that out.

    5) Get my finances back in order: I so suck at this right now. Also, car is creating more expenses. Boo.
