It's Thursday! It's mid-afternoon in London! It's another wrongheaded morning in Mericky! Everyone in Australia is dead from spiders and snakes and poisonous accents, apparently. And it's time for more Crossed hideosity!

    Episode 82, live and free-to-air.

Remember: Not safe for work, not safe for minors, not safe for people of a nervous disposition, not safe for the QA CASK.

Apologies for tardiness (am on vacation in the Alps) and apologies for those of you who jumped the gun and already commented in the other thread. By all means copy-and-paste into here. For future ref, I or one of the mods will *always* start a thread, even if it takes an extra day.

    Oh dear.

    Commencing copy-paste

    "Go home, my love".

Never before have I read something that was both heartwarming and pants-shitting terrifying.

@Babu Dhakal: Totally agree with that comment

Eh, well, the ending of the Gamekeeper's story itself lacked punch. And he's most likely lived past his usefulness and about to be killed off. Or already dead. I wonder if Shaky will try to talk to her some more, or simply obey the command. I also wonder where exactly is he writing this particular diary entry. But I expect an interlude next week, so meh :(

Also, reading the other thread's comments, I wonder if I'm reading the same story as everyone else, or I just have a very weird point of view on things. and by that I mean, one where I empathyze with the survivors

No one wanting the nun dead? Storywise, she's an awesome character. But common sense says that she must be put to death as soon as possible. Along the rest of her crew (especially the priest). She's terrible. Teeeeerrible. Before she found out that Shaky was alive and reachable she made victims last for weeks before letting them die. Quality Nightmare-fuel if I've seen some.

"shaky has provoked the death of hundreds of people". Arguable. The quisling, in his badlands arc, did provoke the death of hundreds of people directly, Shaky, if anything, has provoked them indirectly (well, except for Jasper and Mark I guess). Considering that he's the one thing that keeps Teresa half in check, while Cava and the driftfleet have been screwed because of his actions, most likely he has saved a lot of others in their place. Thing is, Teresa would have eventually been turned if she had stayed in her solitary place taking care of the oldies. Then she would have become the supercrossed she is, and she wouldn't have had any reason to protect no survivors ever. Now, see the previous paragraph, and think big, as in, the potential fate of lots and lots of people who aren't the driftfleet or the Cavaites.

    @ gragh46

Indeed. If Harry is to be believed, five years into the cataclysm, there should still be c. 50,000 non-Crossed left alive in Britain. So by causing Aoileann to focus all her attention on some fly-specked island in the Orkneys, Shaky has - inadvertently - kept thousands if not tens of thousands away from her group's tender mercies. And of course, if she, Moses and the rest of their army is somehow wiped out, then it will be like the wipeout of Horsecock's group, only bigger and far more important in scale.

I wonder where "home" will be... It could be Cava or somewhere else they had discussed.

Yes, the readability on this one is high. Maybe I already read about home and forgot?

I also want to commend the excellent artwork. Reading early issues shows how much it has progressed, though I love the early stuff, especially the Gamekeeper. And when we first meet Aoileean, wow. But it has really kicked into high gear lately. Such a beautiful blend of pictures and words.

Did we ever reach a consensus as to whether or not Shaky may be immune to the infection? Looking at some of the London issues and he is walking round barefoot, and although not clearly shown there must have been plenty of contaminants around? If he is, and the nun tries to infect him, fails, he may be in for a fair bit of extended torture as a result. I think Shaky said some time back there was no cure etc so it would be fairly ironic. Whatever, I just hope it's not a skip week this week.

This may just be me, and you may all call me crazy, but I don't think Aoelieann is actually turned. I've thought so for a while now. She doesn't have a cross, as that x was put there by the gamekeeper, and hasn't killed anybody. We've only ever seen her using non crossed limbs to sodomize herself, also provided by the gamekeeper. She put that suit on Ashoke so she could still be near him and "cuddle".

We've still not been shown how shaky actually left her, and I feel like whAtever happened there led to her snapping and becoming almost catatonic. When the wave of plussies that turned the priest rolls through, it's possible that because of the x on her face (sliced in there. Not painted.) and her non reaction at all to them being there led the dumb crossed to believe she was already crossed. Hell, maybe SHE thought she was crossed.

I don't know. Like I said maybe it's just me, and you can all call me crazy.
