It's second quarter time! And for those of us with shiny new boxes under our TVs there might actually be something to play on them soon that isn't Titanfall / Infamous Second Son.

After what seems to have been a pretty awful beta period, the Elder Scrolls Online has launched on PC (and will launch on the consoles later this quarter). It seems to have some stability issues, but is apparently already much more fun than the beta was. One I'm keeping an eye on.

If you've not played Hearthstone yet, then 1) you should, it's free and 2) it's coming to iPad shortly (already if you're in Canadaland), a format it's definitely suited to.

So, what's everyone else looking forward to this quarter?

It's got real swinging mechanics again!

My PS4 that I ordered just after Christmas, before the new year, is FINALLY on its way to me. Kinda ridiculous, but then it's not like I haven't had things to play in the meantime.

Ditched Assassin's Creed: Black Flag in favor of Infamous: Second Son, since it's an actual unique developed-for-the-console exclusive, and it's supposedly really good. Kept the order for Need for Speed: Rivals, since it looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

In the meantime, I'm still slowly poking my way through Dark Souls 2. I'm sure I could've finished the game a week ago if I wanted to, but, dammit, I'm exploring. Trying out weapons and armor combinations. And PVPing. Man, the PVP is SO much more fun now that it's not all fishing for backstabs.

Haven't been on the ps3 in over a week and the computer is still in the shop.

First weekend I get to myself, I'm just going to play Dark Souls until I drop.

Downloading Hawken on Steam right now. I am a sucker for mechs and it looks beautiful. Hopefully the in game graphics hold up, and more importantly the gameplay. Reviews look good so far. Anyone else playing?

I gave the beta a whirl a few months ago and found it a little disappointing, tbh. It didn't have the environmental scale that I look for in a giant robot game, and there were some weird decisions control wise (dodging is super important, but it's mapped in the least intuitive manner imaginable) so I just kind of bounced off of it.

Finally got my god damn PS4. That only took three and a half months.

Thought it was a bit loud, but that was because I was letting it stand sideways. Much quieter now that it's horizontal.

First impressions are pretty good! Controller feels awesome. Flower looks way sweeter. Need For Speed: Rivals is pretty darned good so far. I'm thinking the real next-gen feeling won't set in until I get Second Son in the mailbox.

finished dark souls 2 last night didn't realise it was the final boss until the cutscene and the credits rolling, so now hunting for some items and having fun before venturing into new game plus

I have been finally playing Far Cry 3. Generally, because my brain consists of eight weasels running around and the schedule to match, I haven't been traditionally too keen on games that require a commitment of faffing around for dozens of hours, preferring short nice story arcs instead. Now I've surprised myself by spending hours and hours just exploring this tropical island and stalking and killing all sorts of endangered local fauna to get that slightly better wallet, since we all know a cassowary leather wallet can hold more money than a shark skin wallet, amirite? I really like this turn of events, and Far Cry 3 is surprisingly enjoyable game in that regard, with all the exploration and a wonderful feeling of stalking through a genuinely large game world.

I really want to play Far Cry 3 but I've got it for PC. It never recognized the scroll wheel on my trackball as zoom, and as far as I can tell there's no way to remap the key bindings. I dream of a world where someday the game can be made playable, but it seems less and less likely.

Playing Elder Scrolls Online on my wife's account as well. I'm a Khajiit known as: Kra'fuss, The Fat Assassin! It does feel like the illegitimate love child of an Elder Scrolls game and a typical MMO, and that includes some beautiful differences from other MMOs and some annoying changes from what makes ES games great. If nothing else, I love that there's an Argonian player character running around called "Eats-To-Learn". :D

I would love to join a WC guild!

So Fez is SO MUCH BETTER for me on the Vita than on the computer. Am already further ahead than I was before and really enjoying the hell out of the game.

Also, still trying to get the feel for Stealth Inc. I THINK I like it so far.

Either way, my puzzle platforming itch has been scratched.

Due to the imminence of Transistor, finally decided to knock Bastion out of my backlog. Great game. Fantastic soundtrack. Two huge "right in the feels" moments.

Then I decided to finally finish Broken Age Act I. That ending. Can't quite figure it out.
  9.  (11312.18)
Bleh, Transistor is out only on PC and PS4 :/

That lead me to think about something again. Is it just me being all old and jaded, or is the current console transition somehow... fucking dull? I mean, okay - the last time around I was bright eyed and bushy tailed, and there was a lot of talk and enthusiasm and promises and threats in the transition, but now the only thing I can dredge up is a meh about a couple of games only coming out for the new consoles.

It's not really any slower than previous transitions in terms of 'time till first really essential platform exclusive' (i.e., we haven't had one yet), but there isn't the whole visual bump this time to get people excited.

Compare the XBO and 360 versions of Titanfall for example, there isn't that much of a difference as far as the 'man in the street' can tell.
  10.  (11312.20)
Yeah, that's a big part of what I was going for. Also, last time there was the whole net thing. There just isn't the same whee-bang-whoa -thing with this. PS4 is PS3 except 20% more, and ditto for Xbone, which may be a good TV machine for Americans. Wow, I guess.
