    My boyfriend's album is getting written up EVERYWHURR and Pitchfork just gave it a fucking GLOWING review.

    (For those who are unaware: Pitchfork's scoring system is ridiculous. They basically do not give anything above an 8 unless it's from a critically established band, and even then rarely—so a 7.7 for a record corresponds with a review in which not a single negative thing is said and the critic seemingly loved it and described it as "one of the year’s most inclusive and delightfully challenging gauntlets.")

    I'm mega proud.

    I just reserved my autumn "holiday". I will be going to Biograd na Moru / Croatia in October for a week long workshop where the pitch is: "INVITED LECTURES by world-class experts, focusing on recent interesting robotic, control, signal processing or ocean science (MARBIO, MARCH, MARSEC) results" […] "Hands-on TUTORIAL SESSIONS concentrating on the use of tools and applications for robotic ocean science mission preparation, post-processing and statistical analysis." […] "DEMONSTRATIONS of equipment: autonomous robotic units, vehicles, systems (ROVs, AUVs, USVs, UAVs); or remote sensing equipment, stereo-cam- era systems, sonars, radars, hydroacoustic modems etc."

    AWWWWW-YEAH.

    On other words, I'm going to place like Biograd to study about autonomous marine robotics so I'm very sorry for the B-class horror film which this sets the stage to. OR AM I.

    I'm very giddy, although this positively reamed my finances which I had just got in order. I'm an idiot, but a happy idiot :D

    I'm down in weight, which is pretty good. Hopefully I can keep it down.

    I'M GETTING MY COMPUTER BACK! After three weeks or so since it had a stroke, I'm finally getting my precious back. With it, some new RAM (It now has 12GB) and, as soon as I get all my stuff back on it, a new OS.

    Also going to splurge a bit and get a wi-fi enabled SD card, since I'm often out on beer stuff and need to post to social media often, and would like the photos to be better quality than what my phone can provide.

    Finished the semester. Not with my usual marks, but oh well.
    Spent the day drinking wine, packing boxes, and reading on the balcony. And eating all the food, and watching Game of Thrones. Celebration day!

    So, um. I won the Saveur Magazine Best Food Blog Award in the category of Wine & Beer. I'm getting flown to Vegas next month for the award ceremony.

    @oldhat - treble win!

    So, bad news: the bookstore I work at is closing our downtown location, which is suck on so many levels. No one's getting fired, thankfully, and I've only cried in public twice so far.

    ButButBut! I went on a proper date for the first time in forever and he brought me a book. That he bought from my bookstore. At an author event. And he got it personalized to me. I don't even care about signed books anymore. But he asked me out for coffee and then he brought me a book and I melted and it's been kind of good ever since then and that's all really and I have to go now.

    I just got the most amazing last-minute scholarship to attend a conference next week. Like, pure charity. I am so excited. It's going to be a bitch to pull it all together, between moving Monday-Tuesday, bussing Wednesday-Thursday (all I can afford, but I'll need the time just to get my shit together intellectually), presenting Saturday, somehow doing a take-home final exam in that period, and a peer review ... picking up business cards! Putting everything on credit! Augh. So worth it, though.
    Today I actually said 'thank god I'm unemployed.' So that's nice too, finally finding an upside.
