Is there a way of finding out what the music is playing around SL locations? I heard some tonight I wouldn't mind looking up. Ta.

if it's a stream, ask the parcel owner - if they had a dj in or similar, they would be able to let you know who/what etc.. unless they're ignorant twunts

Sometimes, I just hang out on a parcel and wait for a station announcement :) They're reasonable frequent on the stuff I have heard.

Sometimes if it's a club, there might be a little script which displays the text of the song above a object, like a radio or whatever.

If it's a specific genre you're looking for, look for clubs that play the music you're looking for.

Of those i've visited I would recommend:
    - The Velvet and Umbra Penumbra play a lot of alternative music and have nightly events.
    - Cirque Mystique for techno/dance
    - DoggLounge for house

Alternatively, if you're looking for live music, try the Live Music Enthusiast's group. Gigs are announced regularly. Talent in SL is hit and miss, but every once in a while you find a gem.

Thanks for the heads-up Florence, but I was looking to name ambient music I've heard in various places. I guess I should IM the owners.

Aah for that, there's a little trick you can do with the client to get the URLs to show up:

Press ctrl + alt + d to get the Client menu to show up, then click Client>Show Admin Options. This should allow you to see the media URLs showing on any selected parcel.
