haha, when i first heard snake eater, i would just yell "snake eatah!" in a bad falsetto at random people in bars.
this weekend i havent listened to much, but i saw NETZEAH (blown out indie rock/hardcore) I WISH I ( these kids worship orchid and converge, guess what they sound like) ROMAN ARMS ( the loudest indie rock band in arizona, angry and driving) SUBVACCUUM OF NOTHING (2-man weird noisy violence)
on friday and it was a fun drunken night of wrecking kids
Been listening to the Vampire Weekend album, not sure if I like it or not. It's certainly fun, but although they've obviously tried using interesting instrumentation, they haven't used it in a particularly interesting way, and the tracks just sound a bit like early Strokes.
I'll have to give it a few more spins.
Nick Cave & Gutter Twins out tomorrow though, especially looking forward to the latter.
Also bought a ticket for Public Enemy in May. They're touring It Takes A Nation of Millions for the 20th anniversary, performing the whole thing start to finish, which should be pretty awesome. It's still one of the finest Hip Hop albums ever released.
@nigredo - I have a love/hate relationship with Magma, but that one album I like a lot. ( Haven't heard the reformed version of the band that's been out for a few years now.) One one level I can't help but love a band that sings in their own invented language.
Lately, it's been lots of Elliott Smith (specifically, "X/O" and "Figure 8") and approximately equal portions of 65 Days of Static's "The Destruction of Small Ideas."
