    god help me, it looks like I may be moving back to the U.S. within the next year and a half.

    I've lived away for 2 1/2 years, but I've visited there three times. it's been weird every time. reverse culture shock.

    Just remember, if you can't find it in the vending machine, you can probably buy it in a local liquor store/erotic boutique.

    first of all, the U.S. doesn't have nearly enough goddamn vending machines. in the summertime I'm constantly thirsty. second, I had a ridiculous time in a hotel in L.A. trying to find a vending machine product that wasn't soda. there was a vending machine on every floor, but the only non-soda product was water... which was sold out on five of the six floors. finally I was able to get two bottles of water for $2 each. made me homesick.
