I'm known for eating almost anything, or at least trying it once. Last night people were shocked when I sucked down Scallop Ceviche and Crisped Sweet breads. I'd hate to see what they would've thought of my ability to suck down raw oysters. The only thing I haven't managed to suck down would be octopus jelly, but I'm a bit older now and would be more inclined to try it.
And yes, I managed NOT to make Hannibal Lecter jokes while eating the sweetbreads. Somehow.
So yes, last night I had a fancy dinner, with fancy wines, and a fancy (though somewhat under-confident chef) upheld my end of the conversation well, and did not behave like a fiend. I can be taken out in public. Go me. My general thoughts on the dinner, for all its expense and fancy foods was thus: The quality was there, but between the nervousness of the chef, lackluster presentation and the majority of the company, It was rather dull, lacking that little extra zing to make it truly memorable.
