I get ill when I mix brands of cigarettes, like mixing drinks. My friends think it's weird.
I was alwys a Marlboro Lights man, until I switched to Camel Lights (Camel Blue I call them now to make it easier for the shop assistant) a few years ago. Never really tried any American brands, although I like some of the names. And yes, Silk Cut are light smokes. I've never worked out what that says about Constantine...

maybe my silks were just stale or something then?

I miss Silk Cut, I can't seem to get them in Indianapolis anymore.

Other than that, been smoking Camel Turkish Royal since they debuted but they seem to have changed them recently because they don't taste the sameas they used to. So lately I've been getting whatever non-menthol Camels of any type I can get when they're on a Buy 1 Get 1 special or whatever.

While I accept that there could be worse tasting cigarettes, in my mind the Lesser Panda variety from China is by far the standard bearer for terrible flavour. How to describe it...imagine taking the newspaper one lays down before painting after one has painted an entire room and cleaned the brushes and spilt paint thinner everywhere, and shredding that and then wrapping it in plastic and then smoking it. That is Lesser Panda.

When I smoke it is always American Spirit, the blue packs.

Camel Lights for everyday
Dunhills or American Spirit Blue for special occasions.

There used to be a brand that was Greek tobacco grown in Virginia and it was named after a family (karelia - i found it) - those were my super special birthday or just because i rock and am about to be really broke so i'll spend the 5 something on them smokes. but, the local shop stopped having them. which sucks.

i get ill smoking marlboro lights. my adolescence leaving me messages?

I've run the whole gamut of cigarettes. 16mg, 12mg, quitting, 2mg, and now 4mg Peter Jacksons. If you don't know what that means then I'm not explaining.

When I've got extra cash I buy Sobranies (cocktail or black russian depending on my mood) or whatever cloves they have. As long as they're not the fucking horrible Indonesian popping ones my friend plied me with in Dallas. Sampoerna?

I currently have a shoe box of cigarettes waiting to be posted to me (from said friend clove smoking friend) including the Peppermint Camels and Nat Shermans.

I'm a Pall Mall Regular man of about a year now.

Used to smoke the filterless ones before my lungs started testing my resolve. (Note: My lungs HATE me) Since smoking less wasn't an option, I switched to filtered.

Before that I smoked Turkish Golds, and before those, Kamel Reds.

Bronsons are my backups, for those times when cash is in short supply, but those taste like getting kicked in the throat feels, so I try to keep those times to an absolute minimum.

I now smoke Superking Blues. I used to smoke these things called Raffles, started when I was 16 and smoked 'em for almost 20 years. Unfortunately, so few people smoke them now, it's become impossible to find packets that aren't so old that they're like smoking sawdust, so I had to switch.
I can't stand Marlboro, which used to be a problem as everyone I knew smoked them, but I hardly know anyone who does now, most of my smoking friends smoke roll-ups now, and indeed the other sort of roll-your-owns.
I have survived Russian fags, but by far the most interesting cigarette I ever tried was this Maori brand, whilst I was hitching down the west coast of Australia, smoked by a trucker who gave me a lift. It was aroung 8 inches long, the paper was printed to look like newspaper (which is what they used to use as papers), and it took about 1 1/2 hours to smoke, but would go out if not puffed on, so could be stretched over a whole day or two. I have no idea what exactly was in it other than tobacco...

Used to smoke Parliament Lights with the recessed filter. Was informed by a lesbian friend that it is a lesbian cigarette as it does not stain the teeth. I have no idea what that means and have since kicked the habit.

My Taiwanese associate smokes these godawful things he brings back from home. They smell like someone set fire to a hippie crystal shop.

I smoke marlboro lights mostly, or Davidoff classics.

Silk Cut are very light cigarettes, mainly because the filter has perforated holes around it. Old macguyver trick is to lick the holes before lighting and you get a stronger taste.

God, I've got no idea. It was almost 20 years ago, and to be honest, I was probably too scared to ask (he was a very big trucker).

I just had a quick check around online, but it doesn't seem to be a subject with much coverage.
Funny, with all of the shit online, you'd imagine someone would do a cigarettes of the world website...

I'm having a time out until I can learn some manners.
Started off with Camel Lights provided by a Bad Influence in high school and then switched to Camel Filters in College. Then Old Golds because they were cheaper than rocks and then that "Dave's" brand before it collapsed, because my name is Dave and they were the official hippie cigarette of Portland for a while.

Then Winston started giving out free samples for a few years and I am always first in line for the free smokes. They claimed to be additive free as well (which is totally not true) so it was like smoking American Spirits without all the cost. I'm constantly out of money for smokes these days so I'll smoke the cheapest rolling tobacco around when I can't afford American Spirits but my favorite smokes ever they don't sell in the States anymore.

Back when I had a lot of money I'd get Johnny Player Specials in the nice black box but they stopped exporting those from the UK several years ago. Totally sucks. On good days at this point I'll get American Spirit blues, and the foul cheap-ass rolling tobacco on the bad days, which are many. If I ever get to the point where I can afford Dunhills it will pretty much be a golden age for humanity.

And despite my desperation I won't go near cloves because they don't even feel like cigarettes, they're more like a means of collecting blood samples through the lungs.

I like a nice soft pack of Marlboro Menthols. I have gone though fazes where I would by a different brand daily. I love filtered Lucky Strikes but they are impossible to find.

Mild 7s are only available from this one tobacco shop in the "hip" part of town, but few people around here smoke them. They are delicious, but expensive, since they're from Japan.

I also like the Nat Sherman New York Cut.

But that's when I can afford it...

When I'm on the cheap, I go Shield or Checker... I used to smoke Double Diamonds, but those will bury you in tar. Plus they're so hard to light.

I know it doesn't do a lot of good since I can't remember the brand names, but here goes. One of my bandmates went to Cuba to study abroad several years ago and brought me a cartoon of Cuban cigarettes that made lucky strikes taste like ultra-lights. I've also had some Guatemalan cigarettes that the filters were dipped in some sort of sugar solution, which gave it a taste similar to cloves, but without the harshness. Another friend brought me some Egyptian cigarettes, but I was hugely disappointed. They tasted just like Carnivals. My favorite cigarette package design is on the Marlboro Reds box in Brazil. The back has a picture of a woman and a man in bed, and the man is holding in face in either frustration or shame while the woman looks at him angrily. The caption underneath says "Smoking causes sexual impotence."
When I'm stuck with what I can get locally, kamel red lights or lucky strike lights are the way to go.

Canadian cigarettes have little adverts like those Brazilian ones, not quite as graphic but still occasionally disturbing.

NZ has adverts on cig packs rather like those Canadian ones. This has led so far to not a lot of quitting and a lot of frustrated dairy owners being made to search for the pack of someone's favorite cigs that has the one image they are least horrified/most amused by on it.

Oh, and even though I still carry around half a pack of Marlboro Reds for a girl because it's habit, I don't smoke the things myself, being fan of cigars and shisha when I smoke the tobaccos. I've got a friend going to Cuba this year who's planning on bringing back as many cigars as he's allowed to, so I'm waiting rather impatiently to get my hands on some of them when he gets back.

Mmm...Shisha....

Must find a cheaper place to buy that tobacco. That or start growing my own.
