No idea if this will get closed or sunk, but here goes...

Post a photo of where you do your stuff, be it work, study or just sat in front of the internet scratching your nuts and looking at photos of kittens.

    My Desk - March 2008

This is where I study and waste time online in a very green room with a dented laptop.

Just found a picture a friend took of my desk last year...I'm living somewhere else now, where I don't even have a desk—now I just draw on tables and carry my laptop around—but it's a cute photo:

::hurrying before the sink goblins come to take this thread away::

-Dual Monitors are prime for goofing off and working simultaneously. (ex: streaming Lost while coding invoices)
-Limited Edition Hellboy 2 Poster. 607 out of 2008 made.
-Red water bottle is filled and drank from at least 3 times during the work day.
-Paper cup holds my endless supply of Trader Joe's berry granola.
-There's a bronze monkey holding up a tray with my business cards
-Insult calendar. I'm more insulted by how lame it actually is. And yes, it's a day off, I know.
-On the door up there is a 7 Dwarves mood indicator for anybody who enters the room. Today I'm dopey.
-Off to the side, I maintain a "Snap Scorebaord" for anybody who gets a good laugh at somebody else's expense.

But make no mistake. I still hate it here.

Things like this MAKE me take pictures and gain a false sense of achievement! :p No tidying, for honesty.

    I like dinosaurs.

    ...And pumpkins, it seems.

I can see my toothbrush and my harmonica in my photo, now I look closer. There's a robot who's a pencil sharpener but he seems to have fallen down.

    ...and Marmite?

Interesting thing to have on your desk.

note, my desk is a set of shelves, and my keyboard goes on my knees if i'm sitting down (hence why the monitor is at such an angle in the photo), or ontop of the PC terminal if i'm standing...

    it's a temporary solution!

The multiple screen stuff has reminded me of how I used to do things a few years ago... I've travelled a long road to being a single laptop Apple Mac person...

    My desk, 2002

This was my desk shortly after I bought my first Apple Mac.

One iMac G4 dual booting Mac OS X and Gentoo Linux, one desktop PC running Gentoo Linux, two headless PCs as servers running Gentoo Linux and a Sun SparcStation 4 with a version of Solaris.

Basically I ran my own email, web and file server and seemed to feel the need to make use of every spare computer I could lay my hands on.

The girl I was seeing at the time called me a 'Tesco Value Neo from the Matrix'. I suppose that was the catalyst for changing my ways.

    my office

My workhorse Dell is in the workstation. The tower on the file cabinet to the left, and one on the floor out of frame, are systems I hauled out of the trash and fixed up. One is a DRM free Windows 98 machine I use to rip and burn CDs (for personal use of course). The other has a Linux install I don't do anything with. Eventually I'll get rid of one of these.

The bookshelves to the left were built by my father in 1963 or so, and have followed me around since 1997 or so. 6' x 6', 7 shelves, mostly fiction.

There's a futon with end tables (TV / clock radio / reading lamp) off to the left, and shelves full of computer crap to either side of the double doors you can see on the edges of the image.
