    I've been having this fantasy about going out into the middle of the woods, finding a nice spot to lie down and just falling asleep while it snows down on me.

    Well if you want large amounts of snow falling on you, you just missed a two-day blizzard bonanza here in the winter wastelands of Northern Michigan...wait a day or two and im sure they will start again.

    We're just having flurries here and there, most of what's falling is actually just refalling after being blown up off the ground, eddying about in the air outside the window and...I really wish I could get this on video; it's snowing "UP" at the moment....

    The weather around here seems to forget there are other options. Overcast and rainy seems to be the order just about every day.

    but seriouosly have you ever seen lightening behind snow....it's a trippy experience. makes you want to just go home, pull teh covers over your head and shut the freaky freaky world out.

    I have actually. I dunno...it's kind of a disorienting sight, but I've grown up just loving thunder and lightening. I think my wonder of the whole thing overpowered the freakiness of the situation for me.

    me...i had to go to work...though it was quite the sight, so maybe it was more me not wanting to drive through a blizzard with lightening to work and wanting more to go home and jsut take a nap.

    robinleblanc- You're right, storms are wonderful...I have fantasies involving them, too. I admire stormchasers...what a rush that would be!

    harchangel- I've only gotten to see lightning during a snowstorm, maybe three times...I think it's cool and creepy all at once, perhaps moreso because it's rare. The one time I was scared to go get in my car during a storm was when I was visiting Ohio during the summer of 1997. Lightning flashed all over the place across the sky and just would not stop, there was never a moment when it let up and it lasted for over an hour and a half.

    Being in the middle of a raging hailstorm in the middle of the forest with a package to deliver. I've had some crazy hailstorm experiences in my life and frankly, I love the chaos it creates.

    We got what people were calling "Thunder Snow" in Boston a couple of years ago. People thought the sky was going to rip open and the world was coming to an end. I loved every second of it. I saw some heat lightning last summer that rivals the thundersnow is awesomeness, the sideways red lightning bolts that stay hidden the the dark gray clouds in the hot summer evenings.

    The whole snow and thunder and lightning thing is a strange thing to see. I rememberit happened here about fifteen or so years ago and it was just so odd. Definitely got that end-of-the-world feeling. Or maybe it was because 'Ghostbusters' was on TV at the time. I don't know...
