I have discovered an alterable file in the First Look Dazzle viewer thing that lets me, finally, reliably get into Second Life (something in the last general update destabilised the OnRez viewer).
what's the best viewer for 15" macbook pro (core2 duo processor)? I use the LL one and that needed some beatings before it stopped crashing 30 seconds in. Even now it isn't great in terms of the level of detail it gives me. Can windlight work on my macbook pro or is that hoping for too much?
OnRez has been working fine for me so far, but I miss the windlight quality graphics that the latest SL viewer brought with it. Unfortunately, that would lag like crazy for me all the time. So on recommendation I downloaded the Nicholasz patch which everyone raves about. And now it's bloody worse. It takes aaaaaages for things to load and most of the time the avatars remain gray formless blobs all the way through. Fucking annoying. Does Dazzle have windlight type graphics? My net connection is fine, so its clearly a compatability type issue. Till then I guess OnRez it is for me.
OnRez died for me around the same time it did for ctanguis -- I'm on a PC laptop with a Intel 965 chipset, so I went to Dazzle. Which just forced an upgrade to the new Release Client. So once again I had to set Object Occlusion to 0 in the files. Now, if you crank the Release Candidate's graphics options up to 11, you get a little taste of Windlight.
