Most of the announcement sounds like business as ususal, but there is one item that people should note - that Avatar is at least trying something new and is attempting to make the webcomics-to-print business plan actually work. That's not to say there aren't other webcomics creators who've made their individual books financially viable, but this appears to be pretty much the first time a creator with a demonstrated ability to sell well in print turned away from the standard print serial to book model. It's surprising more people aren't talking about that.
