That's pretty ghastly. I'm pretty freaked out. I keep thinking if this was "olden" times he would end up being the monster of a story like Grendel or some such. Some freakish stuff happens out there.
I can honestly say that creeped me the fuck out past any weird link I can recall seeing in recent memory and I have no idea why.
Aren't we all desensitized to this sort of shit? it is the internet after all. Regardless, My work here is done. I can sleep well tonight with that knowledge, maybe you can't but that's neither here nor there.
It might not be the same strain that causes those, but it is indeed a papillomavirus.
Wow, I feel like an idiot now after that, but I swear, I had seen a similar thing on the internet that was later proven to be a hoax - that one was supposed to be about a person living in Scotland, and it turned out the pictures were faked, so I assumed this was the same deal.
"Is it weird if this creeps me out more than anything else on the internet? Including 2 Girls 1 Cup and the BME Pain Olympics?"
Not really. 2Girls1Cup was staged and involved gross shit that one would have to physically and mentally do. Tree Man, on the other hand, has a condition that, while extremely rare, can happen to someone that they have no conscious way of stopping.
I'm confused. Those growths on him that look like tree bark. Is that just warts that me and you get that are growing unchecked because of his genetic condition? Or what the hell are they? Just wondering. Read up on it, and they weren't clear? Just wondering. Either way, really interesting.
Wow! The thing that really brought it home somehow, was the photo in the news article of him sitting grinning with his daughter, and it just hit me 'that's a real guy with a real life'. Glad he's enough of a curiosity to medical science to get treated for free!
@ Handsomedave From what I read, he has some form of HPV (which can cause warts in a normal person). But because he has some rare genetic defect related to how the virus works in his system, it's basically going unchecked. So left totally unchecked the warts are growing wild.
