Smile by Boris at disgusting volumes.

Also the SON LUX album, At War with Walls and Mazes, which I've still not managed to wear out after four weeks of frequent listening.

I'm really an enjoying the 'Puddle City Racing Lights' album by Windmill, which I'd been meaning to check out for a while. 'Tokyo Moon' has become one of my songs of the moment, with a neat video to boot.

I found that on extended listening that guy's voice really fucking annoyed me. I didn't know that the simple act of someone pronouncing the word "escalators" could provoke me to rage.

That has been something I've been grappling with. Some songs (only a couple, mind) are verging on unlistenable for me, but when it's tolerable, I think it suits the music nicely. I've got a feeling that the guy's a dick though, but I don't know why.

I've just watched/listened to my first bit of new Portishead, the promo video for Machine Gun. It's a hideous waste of time and effort. It sounds like recent Scott Walker filtered through the Trent Reznor Boring Production Machine Of Yesteryear and I hate it hate it hate it.

The soundtrack to West Side Story.

    It's really fucking good.

Just about everything and anything in my music library. That adds up to 839 hours and 29 minutes of music.

I really can't choose anything special this week.

Friends were down at the weekend so working through recommendations:

    Caspar Brotzmann Massaker
    Fuck Buttons
    Death In June

Rediscovering Swans and Angels Of Light.

Trying to find Hototogisu's Ghosts From The Sun, but not being very successful since I want to check it out before buying. Any ideas where this might be doable online?

    Akron/Family - Love is Simple

Little Dragon - Self Titled (There's a beautiful music video of one of the songs on Youtube. It's stunning.) Twice.

Takeshi Teranchi & the Bunnies (Japanese surf rock)

    Invert - Between the Seconds

Nightmares on Wax - In a Space Outta Sound

@collindeplancy - Um, is that a new Portishead album? If so, I'm going to have to buy it three days ago, and slaughter some of my friends for not telling me about it.

Apparently a duo from Bristol who built up a fanbase through atp (so says emusic). Kinda droney electronic on what I've heard, liking it though

    Retro time for me:

Songs For The Deaf - Queens of the Stone Age
Live At The Witch Trails - The Fall
    Doolittle - the Pixies

Did the Fall ever hit the public consciousness outside Britain? Possibly the best British band of the last 25 years.

    @ Mark Barter

As much as can be expected for a band that's as abrasive as the Fall. Never popular in the "Pearl Jam" sense, but a whole bunch of classic American Indie rock bears a really strong Fall influence. Pavement leaps immediately to mind.

Possibly the best British band of the last 25 years.

    Definitely one of my favorites.
