Fraction tried to get ME to wear an eyepatch for a fucking week, so you can bet he'll try it with fictional characters.

Hmm, I have found that eyepatches always look awesome on fictional characters, but put 'em on real people and they look like numptys.

Of course, if anyone has an image of a person who looks cool with an eyepatch, feel free to share...though maybe not in this thread.

I think you are forgetting the most obvious example, and it works perfect for this thread (at least for how it has devolved [all because of me])...

    He was right, too.

    @ madmatt213

    Hmph, I stand corrected.

Well, I sit corrected actually, but you get the idea...

Anyone reading the Omega maxi? how is it?
    • CommentTimeApr 1st 2008

I've been picking up Omega every month. I absolutely love it. It's always the first comic I read from my pile the week it comes out. Each issue just keeps getting weirder than the last. I can't imagine what issue ten will be like.

Oh, I think I'll buy the Punisher War Journal TPB. Enjoyed the first one very much, although it was tied very strong into that whole civil war thing

it gets much better the further removed from civil war you get. one of marvels best books, hands down.

And Howard Chaykin's drawing it now. So, you know, EXTRA AWESOME.

Picked up a number of things, but Transhuman is the only one I've been able to read yet (damn you, two full time jobs). Thus far the art is substantial without being distracting, and the dialouge is intelligent without being TLDR. It also brings up an interesting debate between the genetic and cybernetic branches of Transhumanism which I'll start a discussion on in Mad Science.

i'll pick up the trade (an amazing £8!) but is #13 a decent jumping on point, anyone know?

NO! DO NOT JUMP ON AT #13! I think madmatt was being a little subtle, so I'm being very unsubtle. Issue #12 was possibly the biggest issue of the series thus far, and missing out on the kick-in-the-nuts that was #12 would be a big mistake.
You really want to try and collect all the floppies if you can.
  10.  (1618.15)
yeah, i have to second that. casanova is amazing issue to issue, but after #8, there isnt really a concise jump on. its best to go back to that one in order to get the full value out of the story.

Neither BOYS nor WALKING DEAD are on Diamond's final list. I've never expressly checked how accurate that list is, so they might still be left off.

I guess I'll find out tomorrow morning when we go get the books...

I need to talk to the guys at my local (well, nearest) comics store about Avatar comics. They get the trades, but not single issues. And it's not because they only carry superhero comics, they've got Vertigo, Wildstorm and Dark Horse aplenty, and a healthy, if somewhat more limited, helping of IDW and Image. But no Avatar. The people running the store are pretty cool folks, though, so I'm hoping I can convince them to start getting it.

Anyone who is thinking about getting Punisher War Journal: do it. It's a brilliant book that manages to celebrate the seriousness and ridiculousness of having a character like The Punisher in the Marvel universe, without resorting to the grim (if brilliantly written) bloodbath that is the Garth Ennis punisher.

Plus, it gave us a gun that shoots swords. For that alone it is a work of high art.

I second that! Did you read #18? Fooking brilliant, and I'm really warming up to Chaykin penciling the book, too.
