The best way to start these things is to get everyone saying hello. So please introduce yourselves in this thread, adding a photo if you've got one (trust me -- the web works much better when people see that there are real people on the other end of a post).

Obviously, if you've said hello in previous Introduction threads, there's no need to do it again.

We don't insist on real names here. I find it helps, but, frankly, if you want to be a completely fictional invention of yourself, go right ahead. Hell, I've even known people who have started out fictional and then become their own invention.

We publish anything that's smart and/or beautiful. Genre and style can be everything you want it to be. We publish stories in Dutch, English and French.

You can read #0 to #2 online; In april we're gonna print #5 and then #3 will join it's online siblings. When #6 sees print, #4 will go live, and so on.
Don't hesitate, some comics have no words or are in your language. And they all try to be breathtaking.

The lay-out will not always stay so shitty. We've fired the lay-outer and it gets better starting with #2. We promise.

I know the English section could use a little more articles and such but the site is new and I'm busy. This is me being busy:



I write comics to. I do not draw them. Most of them you can find here


English is not my mother tongue. I'll let a native speaker review my work and I'll post the results later. In the future I'll probabely translate everything to english. Or to Chinese; they seem to be winning at the moment.

I'm Derleth. Simply put, I love sequetial storytelling. My life is an endless cycle of work, food, movies, music, comics, my familiar, and sleep... not necessarily in that order. Work consists of writing responses to inquiries for the warehouse/shipping company I work for. I used to dabble in comics-related journalism, but, I got fed up with the fanatic mindset, asskissing, and payola. My diet consists of microwavalbe entrees, but, when I can, I love to devour Bob Evan's Border Scramble Omlette or a Chipotle veggie burrito bowl. Simple pleasures and whatnot. My favorite films are Donnie Darko, Cabin Fever, and Carpenter's The Thing. My favorite bands are MSI, The Chemical Brothers, and Static-X, though I do love a good mixtape from Weezy F. Baby. I choose my comics based on writer and artist, regardless of company or subject matter. While Warren's work is top notch, I also dig on Geoff Johns, Ed Brubaker, Christos Gage, and Harvey Pekar. I have a baby boy cat (actually nine years) named Stan Lee who is my favorite soul next to my sainted mother. Well, Curious Reader, there are two answers to that. The first: You, Curious Reader, are not an actual person, and that question is a rhetorical one posed to make me seem somehow "ironic" or "cool" when I am in fact a total nerd and kind of a jackass. Which was probably more the takeaway, yes. The second: I didn't have any wacky images to share with all of you image-loving people. Which is mostly due to my having the "mad online skillz" of a spastic chimp.

Rather amateurish pic, I know, but if you'll direct your attention to the middle of the photo, you will see something amusing. According to my brother, both are sold at the same desk. Which is just a perfect representation of so many things about America, isn't it? The place they got the license was even called the "Bureau Of Marriage And Firearms." No, I'm not kidding.

This was taken on my camphone at the Decatur County courthouse in Georgia last weekend. My brother got married. It was rather unceremonious, but nice.

If anyone's wondering whether or not I Photoshopped that, consider this: wouldn't I remove my stupid reflection from the photo if I had Photoshop and/or knew how to use it? Yes, yes I would.

Despite that fact, I spent my summer vacation going to San Diego to see the Original Mad Science Bastard in the flesh. I must have come off as sheepish due to the fact that I was waiting for a well placed smack from a cane at any moment. To my surprise not only did I not receive a skull fracture, but he told me to ignore the '4 item signed at one stop notice' and place all my goodies before him to be signed. He even signed a Yanqi one dollar bill for me. Wish I could go to Chicago.

This picture was taken with the lowest resolution digital camera I could find, which was also the highest resolution camera I could afford at the time. I would later find out that if left idle for more than a few minutes it would reset itself and delete it's contents.

I'm Kita Carlsen (at least on the internet). I'm a college student studying music, education, English, and other such high-paying fields. I grew up on a farm outside a tiny town in North Dakota. I did not hate it, and in fact plan to move back at some point, but I like seeing other cities, other countries, other people, other lives. I plan on doing a lot of traveling before I settle in back home.

For the past year or so I've kept stumbling across Warren Ellis' name in various places on the internet. Was linked to FreakAngels last week, so here I am.

I will undoubtedly say something that you will see as completely uncalled for, but because this type of truthiness is most likely what made you fall in love with Warren Ellis to begin with, I will probably pay no mind to your knee jerk reactionism.

I will, however, attempt to be understanding towards people's insecurities/crutches/hang ups (to a degree) and be a productive member of this community. I will bring thoughtful discourse to these threads and attempt to add to the various topics of current cultural dialectics...because,if not, Warren will ban me and I'll possibly get an unneeded sense of smug self fulfillment.

I've got many hobbies, one of those are my love for ObsTech. If it's not longer supported, I like it. I had a score of Palms III, phones that do one thing (phone), and a Sony Clie that I loved dearly that died. At the moment I'm converting a siemens PDA into something more Victorian, as practice for a bigger project, modifying a Compac Contoura into something more stylisch. The Project is on a hold though because we're having a style discussion: Just adding gears to something doesn't make it Steampunk. I could add a Steampowered generator, but those are quite expensive.

Another thing I do is LARP, which means I spend my weekends beating the crap out of people with foam weapons. That hobby has made me want to write my own setting, which in turn is running away into something huge. I keep circle-writing it.

I like videogames, comics and other nerdery. I lurk a fair bit (I think I managed one post in The Engine) but I'll try to be more sociable around here.

A friend's trades of Planetary got me into comics four years ago. It's been fascinating to reread them periodically, having picked up more of the mythos each time. I've now got my dad reading Crecy, another friend's reading CLV, and my sister's promised to try Nextwave.

Anyway, more about me...um...well, like I said, not overly interesting, I work in an apprenticeship centre, basically making sure trainees and apprentices get signed up properly and are treated fairly (whole government program here in Oz), I read, I don't go out much, but only because I'm a lazy bugger, I'm not a shut-in or anything. If it's got a catchy tune, I'll listen to it more than once. Fond of action movies, comedy, sci-fi, but not so much straight drama...for instance, the last three films I saw (all today in fact - pissing down with rain here) were Death at a Funeral (brilliantly funny, esp. Alan Tudyk), Beowulf (excellent visuals, but not much else) and Hitman (now my second-favourite action flick - after Shoot em Up - Timothy Oliphant fantastic as usual).

Definitely an enthusiast of many smoky things...and I'll leave it at that.

Okay, I'll stop crapping on now, except to say that I have no uploadable photos of myself (no, really) and even very few regular ones. I'm usually behind the camera when photos are being taken.

I am an artist and musician. I always wanted to do comics but I am so terribly slow to finish things. I read (anything), write (mostly nonfiction) and take pictures when not pushing a broom/letting my degree languish.

I enjoy myself a long roleplaying campaign, or a good night at the bar. I'm a firm believer that the quality of these events are in the people you enjoy them with, rather than the epic deeds committed or quantity of beverage consumed (but I do concede that said deeds and quantities make for good stories later).

Case in point: some of the most fun I ever had roleplaying involved everyone at the table yelling at each other in outrageous accents for 3 hours. We were sober. I guess you had to be there.

I am a hermit- like fellow, I dislike a great deal of the human population's behaviors but I am not socially inept. I choose to be out or I choose to be further out, maybe by saying that I enjoy visiting as many of the United States parks as possible. I am very courageous in defense of the weak and I feel the golden rule should be practiced by all, I get mistaken for a man of faith often enough and twice as much I try to advertise my lack of conviction in any mortal explanation for it all. My brain works as best it can skeptically in a science driven, religion chained world.

That being said I love anthropology and science, art and music, books and of course the coined 'graphic novels' (because I have not been collecting comic books since I was nine.)

My creature comforts include whiskey and good smoke in the evening after dinner, the revamped Battlestar Galactica, my garden and my 1981 Ford truck that I have thus far been able to duck selling.

I design junk mail for a tanning franchise and an ink jet cartridge refilling company. I aspire to better things. I read too much, sometimes, and feel like I'm a perpetual info-bulimic. My name is Michael, and am probably interested in roughly the same things that would bring someone to a board hosted by Warren Ellis, but standout interests include pulp fiction, old time radio and new audio drama, and Robert Crais. I also play Guild Wars.

I draw and write stuff -- comics, as often as possible. I have a story or two and cover(I think - -if the solicitation cover and the final cover remain the same) in/on the upcoming Negative Burn, issue 20 (this month, or possibly next). In the past, I've had a few stories (writing and art) in Heavy Metal -- I drew an issue of Legends of Camelot, from Caliber -- and I was briefly part of a line of books from Image, known as the "non-line" (b&W books - - late '90s), drawing "Unbound", with writer Joe Pruett. I've also done some non-comics art.

I'm currently writing and drawing a comic called, CRESCENT CITY MAGICK. I have yet to find a home for it -- but you can read the first issue/chapter online and see art from the second issue --

I grew up in Honduras, Central America. My father was a Baptist Missionary, and a control freak. I was home schooled by my emotionally muted mother. I recently learned that before I was born my father was arrested for soliciting gay sex from an undercover police officer in Texas. It was after this that my father went to school to become a minister/missionary, and having another kid (that's me) was my parent's way of reaffirming their relationship. I'm a post-soliciting-gay-sex-reaffirmance baby.

When I was nineteen years old my parents divorced, and it was because my father had cheated on my mother with one of my Hispanic ex-girlfriends from Honduras. My ex and my father married soon after. I think she did it for a green card, and he did it for young nookie (he still lies to himself about being gay, or even bi). My father told me that he was keeping a calendar of all the times they had sex.
The marriage didn't last long. She was mouthy, and one day while driving she goaded him by talking about how much better lovers Latin men were over white men. He responded by repeatedly slamming her head into the dashboard. It wasn't long after that she came at him with a pair of scissors. I'm not sure if she ever got that green card.
