    Welcome to Whitechapel.

    The best way to start these things is to get everyone saying hello. So please introduce yourselves in this thread, adding a photo if you've got one (trust me -- the web works much better when people see that there are real people on the other end of a post).

    Obviously, if you've said hello in previous Introduction threads, there's no need to do it again.

    We don't insist on real names here. I find it helps, but, frankly, if you want to be a completely fictional invention of yourself, go right ahead. Hell, I've even known people who have started out fictional and then become their own invention.

    I've written a few of these before, but I'm pretty sure I haven't done one in Whitechapel. I'll try not to make it any more boring than it has to be.

    Lee Barnett, commonly known by most as "budgie". Director of Finance (US: CFO) in my 'day job', occasional writer outside work.

    Responsible, along with Dave Gibbons, for the hypotheticals panel at Bristol's annual Comics Expo (now getting ready to do the script for this year's, the ninth), and currently mad enough to be doing the fourth fast fiction challenge in four years.

    We publish anything that's smart and/or beautiful. Genre and style can be everything you want it to be. We publish stories in Dutch, English and French.

    You can read #0 to #2 online; In april we're gonna print #5 and then #3 will join it's online siblings. When #6 sees print, #4 will go live, and so on.
    Don't hesitate, some comics have no words or are in your language. And they all try to be breathtaking.

    The lay-out will not always stay so shitty. We've fired the lay-outer and it gets better starting with #2. We promise.

    I know the English section could use a little more articles and such but the site is new and I'm busy. This is me being busy:



    I write comics to. I do not draw them. Most of them you can find here


    English is not my mother tongue. I'll let a native speaker review my work and I'll post the results later. In the future I'll probabely translate everything to english. Or to Chinese; they seem to be winning at the moment.

    I also write prose but that's all in Dutch. Nothing for you anglo's there.

    Until I get paid for all those things I work nights in a shelter for the homeless; It makes me doubt the words of 80's sensation Black, Ace of Base and Nick Cave.

    Hi, My name is Wenonah. I was born in Atlanta, Ga. and live in Canterbury Kent - a way of describing myself that I prefer to "expat". (Culturally somewhere mid-Atlantic; jokes and spelling tend to fall mid-ocean.) I've got dual citizenship (US & UK) and take my responsibilities as citizen seriously and criticize both countries equally.

    Hi! I just joined. My name is Terrie Leigh Relf, AKA The Boortean Ambassador to Haura, and I'm on staff at Sam's Dot Publishing and Tales from the Moonlit Path. Blood Journey, a vampire novel co-authored with Henry Lewis Sanders, was just released from SDP, and my handbook, Beyond the Workshop, was also just released. My poetry collection, My Friend, the Poet. . .will be out from SDP next month. I teach college and university level English--but please don't hold that against me!

    Hi, I'm Scott. I live in what people around the US refer to as Jersey, which probably isn't anything like you think it is from the way it's portrayed. I have a rather popular mustache that might be gone soon, so maybe I'll get a picture of that up. I've done many creative things with music, writing, photography, film, food ... but none of it is as good as it could be, I suspect.

    In any event, I just stumbled across this site in a fit of insomnia. Seems like a good lot, so I though I'd drop in. Always enjoyed Warren's comics, and the variety of other culture around this site only sweetens the deal. Plus, I came across this old interview (ain't the interweb grand?) with this quote, "There is such a thing as truth. Non-relative, unassailable, valuable truth. Do not let people relativise the concept of truth into vapour."

    I reckon that's someone who's got a forum worth participating in.
