I had no idea who Warren Ellis was when I clicked to follow on Twitter. The female next to me said "he's interesting." So I followed. She also tipped me to Merlin Mann and no offense to any fans or him, but I have a box in the corner with all that crap on it already. Ads. Anyway, in the process of deleting things I figured I would check this place out before I dismissed it.
I read a bit of the Freakangels and decided to apply for membership. Now, I am going to read the rest and probably the FAQ too. I may get distracted and not return, so it was lovely meeting you just in case.
I live in the U.S. and I am Boo, Becca, Becky, Rebecca or Lisa Smith. If you recognize me and I told you the latter was my name, I am sorry and I didn't mean any offense. Oh yeah, Susan Smith too. And same sentiment.
My name is Chris and I'm an addict .... of a lot of things really. Generally nothing hardcore or illegal, but I do have an addictive personality that drives me toward distraction and excess. By day I work as a retail trainer and by night I'm a writer who manages to write very little other than the obligatory 'net posts. I enjoy Warren's work, but prefer the more 'unfettered' endeavours .... Smoking isn't my bag, but I really enjoy a good cigar and recently discovered the joys of snus (if you know what snus is then you may join my 'cool club'). Drinking is alright by me, especially at Wetherspoon's .... needless to say, I happen to be an Aussie, but London is now my home.
G'day, I'm Marc, 33, Sydney Australia (obviously). I don't seem to have the interesting lives (or talents) that most of you have (or say you have at any rate), I'm just a big fan of Warren's work, have been ever since first reading Lazarus Churchyard in Blast! Magazine. Didn't really get the concept at the time (partly because I started on episode 2) but I really dug the dialogue. Having read more of his stuff (esp. Transmet), not to mention followed some of his instructions and read about some of Warren's favourite strangenesses, I now kinda get it. But only kinda...
Anyway, more about me...um...well, like I said, not overly interesting, I work in an apprenticeship centre, basically making sure trainees and apprentices get signed up properly and are treated fairly (whole government program here in Oz), I read, I don't go out much, but only because I'm a lazy bugger, I'm not a shut-in or anything. If it's got a catchy tune, I'll listen to it more than once. Fond of action movies, comedy, sci-fi, but not so much straight drama...for instance, the last three films I saw (all today in fact - pissing down with rain here) were Death at a Funeral (brilliantly funny, esp. Alan Tudyk), Beowulf (excellent visuals, but not much else) and Hitman (now my second-favourite action flick - after Shoot em Up - Timothy Oliphant fantastic as usual).
Definitely an enthusiast of many smoky things...and I'll leave it at that.
Okay, I'll stop crapping on now, except to say that I have no uploadable photos of myself (no, really) and even very few regular ones. I'm usually behind the camera when photos are being taken.
P.S. Saw first ep of new Doctor Who series...DISAPPOINTED!
P.P.S. I posted a thread (sorry, started a discission) about the above postscript but it seems to have been deleted. Did I do it incorrectly?
My name is Kirk and every morning I get up and go on an adventure. I don't often go very far, but just by calling it an adventure the world gets more interesting. I found a garden propped up by arrows and ski poles, and washed dirt off an old tile in the lake. I walk barefoot, ride my bicycle and spend great swathes of time curled up in what scraps of sunlight I can find with a cup of tea and a book. I play the violin and guitar, both poorly. I write, design graphically and occasionally climb trees. I talk to people I don't yet know and make them people I do know.
i am owen, from humble hamlet of ballard, washington, United American Empire. i wish i was a writer but im just some jackass with a notebook. a buddy of mine and i are making a comic book. its sort of a contest of who is more lazy. im hoping to finish writing it soon so all the responsibility is out of my hands and i can nag him instead of nag myself.
I am his friend, and I am hoping to drive our flight to comic books with lazy laziness and hopefully some drawing that doesn't suck too bad. I am Keynan Bailey, and I also live in ballard. ^ Owen introduced me to his filthiness mr. ellis, and I have been hooked ever since.
Hello, I'm Christina (also known as Xi) and I'm a 24 year old amateur writer and photographer based in Sydney Australia with aspirations to one day become a radiologist. I'm a comic book/graphic novel enthusiast, hence my presence here, as well as an avid reader and gamer of both computer/console and table-top RPG, though I never seem to get to play enough of the later. For the moment I work for Coca-Cola. Not the most exciting job in the world, but one I'll be able to continue with when I start full-time studies. I'm a kick-ass cook and keep meaning to get around to teaching myself to learn python programing, but I procrastinate far too much. I have an affinity for felines.
Yeah, Gatecrasher still uses Fudge (we use the little letters these days) but I have a couple of conversions that I am in various stages of working on. I am hoping that West End gets their OpenD6 project off the ground so that we can do a version of the game for d6. I think it would be a good fit.
Hallo I'm Clark. I'm was born in Liverpool, raised in Lincolnshire and attend university in Leeds. I'm trying to keep an alliterative quality to the places I reside in. How quirky. I finished a degree in Microbiology last September and am taking a year-out before starting a Masters/qualifying degree in Law this September (but don't hold wanting to be a lawyer against me, please). My love of comics probably stems from my being called Clark, but more likely my Dad giving me the Invisibles to read was I was 13 and thereby, in his eyes, allowed to have my head messed with. Of late comics stopped me from losing control of my higher brain functions while studying the biochemical structure of amino acids and other such delights for my degree and I'm sure will help prevent me losing my mind while filling it with facts concerning Law. Finding out that Mr Ellis was effectively providing a free online Graphic Novel made me do a happy little jig. Hurrah. So there in a nutshell is me, missing out of course my love of television, music, gigs, clubs, theatre and works of literature (and all my little idiosyncrasies of course). Please don't judge too harshly, I'm very tired. Cheers!
Its taken me far longer to get over here from the last board than it should have.
I'm Dan Wickline... you might know me from quater-bins around the world, including such forgettable classics as Blood-Stained Sword, 30 Days of Night: Spreading the Disease, The Unusual Suspects, Steve Niles' Strange Cases and the upcoming series 1001 Arabian Nights: The Adventures of Sinbad.
As for a pic... my Alan Moore imitation.
I'm going to try and be around here more... maybe.
hello, computer. i do other things, but mainly, i write things. i think i've given up the poetry, because as it turns out, i can't stand poets. so i'm working on an autobiographical novel, fictional. i think the only reason i continue working on it is because i am elbow deep in my narrator. but i can't focus on one thing at a time, so i think i might write a comic book. y'know.. cause why the eff not, right? comic > movie because pictures = no budget
i follow warren ellis because he gives me strange news and things to think about. sometimes i read comic books and i hear he writes them. i like the word 'prolific'.
i just moved from florida to minneapolis. you could say this is due, in part, to mr. ellis and his internet presence. not that he knew anything about it.
some strange, delightful twists my life has taken.
