Heh, all your base are belong to Tori now Warren. You must feel somewhat conflicted. That Hope Larson art looks lovely, I may have to buy this despite the Amos. -
Well, after a week on the shelves, it'll be cheaper than firewood anyway. And it doubles as toilet paper! Or an umbrella... and I'm also needing to level out some wobbly tables, so I may wind up buying this after all!

okay, so artists having a place to be awesome and do more than usual with their talents is a wonderful and beautiful and terrifying thing and i'm all for it, but, well, i have authority issues and find anything that purports to be an avenue for talent and yet is so proud of its muse being in so much control and having that kind of involvement makes me more than a little bit skeptical. probably much of the work is legitimately good. it's not even Tori Amos that makes me cringe (well, not completely - i haven't been 20 for a lotta years) it's the pedestal building that bothers me. i don't even know if this is making any sense. ergo - beers for thinking later. -

In all honesty, one of the editorial motivations was trying to create a book that even someone like Warren could like... someone who doesn't care for Tori's music, but loves good comics. I personally LOATHE Belle & Sebastian, but overall enjoyed Put the Book Back on the Shelf, so I've tried to keep the focus on the comic aspect... one of the reason for the edict of 'no illustrated lyric sheets', and making sure that the stories stood by themselves if you took away acknowledgement of the source inspiration. -
Rantz, I had no doubt that's what you were aiming for and you've certainly succeeded. Nice one, I was just taking the piss a bit. Anyone not looking forward to seeing a book so obviously laden down with (comicbook) talent is a fool.

I have to wonder if any of the comic pieces in this book were inspired by Amos songs which were inspired by Gaiman - and if that would cause some kind of black hole of comic self-referencialness. -

That's alot of talent on that book. And Tori Amos...
Dating "theatre girls" in the 90's I was exposed to toxic levels of Tori. Now I assume those girls wold be listening to "High School Musical", so I got off light. -
