How is it already Friday? I have no idea where this week's gone. Oh well. Friday at least means a new episode.

... I don't know. I can see it, but I'm not going to rule out I've just finally gone mad. Anyone else?

    @ Ariana
Ok, I had to click on the logo to see it. The page didn't show initially.

By the way, nice introduction to another character. Good to see the place of the Freakangels in the community too.

Having just driven away from Lambeth this morning, I still find that joke really funny.

Yesterday was the shittiest day EVER.
And today I wake up to a brand new Freakangels episode. A very good one, as usual.
    I feel better already.

    Thank you!

Interesting episode, beautiful art as ever. I was over at Spitalfields just over an hour ago - the market looks busier in the strip than in reality (supposed to be art and 'fashion' on a Friday, but not many stalls at the moment due to the redevelopment).

I was quite pleased with myself this morning. I woke up, checked all my other comics, and then checked Freakangels without prompting! Pavlov for the win!

The market and the protector/protect-ee relationship that Kirk and the other Freakangels have with the rest of the community makes me happy and squishy inside. Much like the rest of the brainchildren of Mister Ellis, I want this place to be real so I can live in it.

    "Tea wine"--is that kombucha?

I've a mind to go find myself a big-ass jug and a mushroom and make me some; it's pretty tasty!

    Another solid installment.

I'm curious, though, as to how an OD can mess up one's memory. Does that happen a lot and I never heard of it, or is it a problem that would solely affect the FreakAngels? It's probably a very commonplace answer and my brain needs more coffee to wake it up, but it needed to be asked.

With the right type of neurological damage, it's amazing what can happen to the brain. On rare occasions, alcoholism is linked to the type of memory-loss that Memento was based around, for example.

Ah. God that sounds so easy. Must remember not to ask questions before waking up.

    *guzzles more coffee*

Least favorite character. Keep this one at more than arm's length a-part. "Scary". That head. Face. Yee-SH!

"What if I left my memory in the future and I have to catch up to it?"

    Fucking brilliant.

Great installment, love the new character...

Saw whitechapel on Road Warriors or something similar the other night, they were doing undercover prostitution stings hahah...

I'm curious, though, as to how an OD can mess up one's memory.

Anything that causes unconsciousness can make a brain hypoxic (starved of oxygen) which can manifest itself as all kinds of brain damage. In addition there are drugs that will just 'break' your brain (e.g. Marijuana and schizophrenia or alcohol and no end of neurological deficits like seizures - alcohol being the most dangerous of these).

I've realised what it is that has been bugging me about the art (and this is no criticism), it's two things one almost definitely can be explained by the plot, the other probably can be explained.

    1) The streets are really clean, unlike the real Whitechapel which is a huge shit-hole. But I'm guessing that the people living there are recycling *everything* and there are visual clues to this being the case.

    2) The lack of ethnic minorities. Whitechapel has a huge number of Bangladeshi people living there, there are also other huge groups of immigrant, and 2nd/3rd generation immigrants. So much so I can go for days without picking up a 'White English' patient. I've not seen any evidence of this in the comic.

I know what it is, I'm too close to the area, so while it is set in Whitechapel, it's not set in the real Whitechapel, and that sets off little alarm bells in the reptile part of my brain. I'm loving the art and the story, but it's not *my* Whitechapel.

So its a problem with my brain, not the story or the art.

    Which...erm... Isn't really news I suppose.

(Also it's never that sunny and the roads are much wider, the pavements aren't that flat and where is the homeless drunk on every corner and the trees aren't London Plane and the market is too small and the windows on the buildings aren't smashed and you are missing the specific graffiti on *that* building and.... )
