Hi all, I've got a bit of tricky problem I need some help with, especially if there are any Australians on the board.

I'm attempting to track down Australian science fiction author Lee Harding, in order to acquire the dramatic rights to one of his books, or at least an option on the book, so I may begin writing a screenplay for a feature film adaptation.

According to his publisher, Hyland House Publishing, all of his books are out of print and all rights have reverted back to him. They gave me his last known address, which I have mailed out a few letters to, with no response.

Either, I have the wrong address, or I have the right address, and guy hates me.

I'm not sure how to pursue this further; does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? Does anyone know anything of Lee Harding himself? He would be in his 70's now.

The UK Film Council is mostly useless to me, seeing as to approach them with a project such as this, I must already have an agreement or potential agreement with the author.

Any help anyone can offer would be massively appreciated

Here's a newish lead for you -- he was presented an award in 2006:

    Thanks Warren, that's immensely helpful!

I think I've managed to track down the livejournal of the chap who wrote that article, who is also an Australian science fiction author, of roughly the same age as Harding, I'm going to message him to see if he can help me.

Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
