Trolling arguments don't happen very often here. We fear the arse eels. Well, I may be projecting that on to others, but they are certainly frightful in my eyes.

I am saddened by the fact that that no one has posted on here talking about guild wars. I do appreciate the information about the lack of trolling and the eels threats though.

I think there are a few people who did play various MMOs at one time or another here. However, apart from Second Life, which a very large number of WCers tinker with, I do not think is that common an activity on WC.

Well, fine. Yes I have played GW and WoW(as well as others, but that is neither here nor there). I decided that I would rather play console games and drink booze and not be around the irritants of MMO's in general. But I do think GW was a sweet game, just had the unfortunate perception of an MMO as opposed to what I consider it, being an RPG style online PvP game. Which is where it truly shines.
Well, hope that's a bit more what you were looking for. I know it wasn't quite "yeah I play, here's my name/server, etc." but it was on topic. Just trying to be engaging.
On another note, I bought beer in a jar tonight(from tap at my local McMennamins), this is quirky and amusing to me.

Used to play, when it first came out. It was fun, but I can't say I find MMOs satisfying enough to play them for long. As far as online RPG-type games go, I'm more of a Diablo person.

...plus running Linux kind of precludes me from playing most games.

MMOs just seem like wankery to me, and I'm a person who has spent significant amounts of time playing them. I would just rather focus my energies on creating something or being inspired by something creative, rather than be sucked into an obsessive and pointless repetition of killing monsters and collecting treasure.

I once read an insight into WoW and other similar games that struck me as true, that by playing these kind of games, people are essentially paying to do mindless work. Create your character and go get a quest, which sends you off to find some object or kill some bad guy. Come back and get paid/rewarded for your time with some pretend money or treasure. But wait, you have to get that alchemy skill up, so go hunt some more to find materials, and of course there's the money to worry about, so make sure to put all your excess treasure into the auction house, and so on. It's basically like the Matrix; here's your virtual world to live in and keep yourself occupied, that's a good little monkey.

    But that's just me. :)

Makes you wonder about the Matrix MMO, really. Very meta ...

    I find it astoundingly ironic.
