    I'll be picking up these books:
    CRIMINAL 2 #2
    DOKTOR SLEEPLESS #6
    FANTASTIC FOUR #556
    PUNISHER #56
    SUBURBAN GLAMOUR #4
    WOLVERINE #64
    YOUNG LIARS #2

    I am (almost) equally excited for all of them. From the notable list Warren posted, I'm highly intrigued by this one: JAN083325 JESUS HATES ZOMBIES GN (MR) $14.95. Anyone know about this one? That's one of those books where the title sells itself. Time to fire up Google, methinks. I looked up the book, and it indeed looks notable. Here's the author's blog (Stephen Lindsay), and here's a review I found for the book. I hope my LCS has a copy tomorrow.

    Young Liars #2
    Doktor Sleepless #6
    Suburban Glamour #4
    Serenity #2

    and if I didn't already own it, I'd buy Harlan Ellison's WATCHING because it's an absolutely fantastic read for everything for his pure venomous hatred of GREMLINS to his succinct (one sentence) review of SUPERGIRL. Plus, lots of other fun stuff in the book as well.

    *update* well heck, I just found out this version of WATCHING is an updated version, which means I will probably fork over the $20 for the new material.

    @alternapete

    I only found out about Jesus hating Zombies this morning from Warren, but I will definitely be picking it up tomorrow, or at least ordering it if my store has no copies available. This has also been a good lesson for me to examine the Diamond list closely and not just scan it for books I collect.
  7.  (1714.11)
    great to hear! i'm always finding a bunch of hidden gems from the diamond shipping lists. when the title intrigues me, i end up googling the book and finding out what i can about it. 9 times out of 10, i'll end up buying the book. hope you enjoy your copy of JHZ!

    There is a Fantagraphics flood this week. I am most interested in:

    WILLIE & JOE WW II YEARS SLIPCASE - Here are a few examples of Bill Maudlin's classic gag panel.

    Haunted by Philippe Dupuy - Spurgeon and Words Without Borders have previews.

    Hall Of Best Knowledge by Ray Fenwick - "Typographical Comics"! I really liked Fenwick's stuff in Mome, I haven't seen much like it. Again, Le Spurge has a preview.

    Naturally, I stole all the preview links from Jog's weekly look at upcoming books.

    Just finished reading the latest Punisher. God, I know this is Garth's last storyline here and while I wish it could go on I understand why it can't and wont. And it is probably all the better for it, nothing like a good finite run. But Man! Coupled with 303, this is probably the some of the best reading I have done in a while. Going to sit down with the whole run when its over and re-read it start to finish, all the while marvelling at how Garth made stories about one of the most one-note dull characters in the Marvel repertoire so damned good.

    Ten points to anyone who can recommend me some reading matter that is similar in tone and quality. In a war stories about bravery and savagery kinda mood.

    Goon #23.

    That's it.

    @samishah

    I personally love Ennis' original FURY miniseries (Marvel MAX line). Definitely hits the same tone in spots as Punisher MAX. I've been dying to get my hands on 303, but have yet to order the trade from my LCS (a local Borders has a copy but it's beat to shit). And going back to FURY, the big confrontation in the final issue has got to be one of my most favorite moments in comics. One of the most brutal, vicious, apocalyptic head-to-heads I've ever witnessed.
