I'm going to be snarky here, sorry: 22/7 is not precisely pi. It equals to 3.14285714... whereas we know pi is 3.14159265... Therefore knowing pi is roughly 22/7 is less accurate than knowing pi decimally to a few decimal places. If you're working with fractions, 22/7 is useful, but not especially accurate on the whole.

Yup. If fractions make you feel better, or at least helps memorize, though, you can express it as a Taylor series: 4 times 1/1-1/3+1/5-1/7+1/9... off into infinity. (Why? Because that series converges to arctan 1, which is pi/4.) Did I mention I've been rereading math textbooks? Anyway, that's not hard to remember. :)
