    Any fans? I'm going through their various singles and EPs in my collection right now having a grand old time. These dudes really opened the doors of my musical taste expansion starting around 10 +/- years ago. Dead Cities is the absolute perfect rainy day album, along with Katatonia's Brave Murder Day for completely, unrelated, nearly opposite reasons.

    I never checked out Alice in Ultraland because I was so disappointed by The Isness but maybe my anger has subsided. It also appears they have released a digital-only album this year, need to Google...

    They Lifeforms EP (not the album itself) featured Elizabeth Fraser from the Cocteau Twins, which got me interested at the time (1994). Haven't listened to that in years; I ought to dig it out of the closet and see how it holds up.

    ISDN was a kinda futile experiment. Gigs piped through an ISDN line might have been super-futuristic at the time*, but my inner luddite gets a buzz from being in the same large hot sweaty room as an artist. Call me an old fart, but it's what makes me get off my arse and actually attend these things. Still, it's an amazing amazing amazing album. Seriously, amazing. ARES, you didn't like The Isness? ::cries::

    * Did this ever catch on? Are any other artists doing this now?

    Funny, I was just thinking of them today. I listened to them a lot back in their heyday, when I was first getting into electronic music (Autechre ended up being a bigger influence on me personally, though)... Brilliant guys. ISDN is a personal favorite. I remember looking at a photo of their studio set-up in some magazine when I was younger and being blown away by how much gear they had. But yeah, I just wish they would do something coherent nowadays, and I think this is the general consensus among fans.

    The Enviorments album on fsoldigital (and bleep too i belive) is super awesome. It's some of the best moments of the FSOL ISDN dates boiled down in a thick viscous ambient gel full of vibrating booty molecules.

    Lifeforms is my personal favourite, the double-CD, not the remix (although that is amazing as well, just ended out in the living room). Dead Cities is nearly as good, the album of choice by at least one fan I know.

    I tried it several times when it came out, gave up for years, re-tried not long ago, and... ugh. I just cannot get into it other than a select few songs. It's like Ulver - Blood Inside: I hear what could be genius, but it just falls flat to me. Someday perhaps.

    The Isness convinced me any money I give FSOL will be transmuted into velvet frocks and more hippy dippy nose flutes. Every time I buy a FSOL album on bleep I cry inside.

    The Isness is one of my favourite albums ever. Some of the stuff in it is so Cockeney Rebelish. I really love this album.
