New week's releases are up at http://www.piccadillyrecords.com - just choose a genre from left and click "magic mix" to stream excerpts from the new releases.
At Piccadilly Records, btw, they're talking up Bon Iver, a new 65daysofstatic and a new M83...
Nowadays, I'm listening some records by Harmonia Mundi, a great classic record label. The records: Vespro della Beata Vergine, by Monteverdi; Bestiario de Cristo (based in some medieval material played by the scholar chamber group Alia Musica) and Powers of Heaven, a collection of orthodox music.
More: the 2046 film soundtrack; a CD tribute to the Rocky Ericsson, When the Pyramid Meets the Eye and some 80's Brazilian punk and post-punk bands (Inocentes, Vzyadoq Moe, etc).
I'm listening to lots of Edith Piaf, the new Goldfrapp album, the soundtrack to Avenue Q (getting in the mood cause me and the boyfriend will be going to that in the summer), and one of my friends gave me an Aesma Daeva album called The Eros Of Frigid Beauty. I've never heard Aesma Daeva before, so I'll be giving that a listen sometime today...
ANTI-YOU-s/t 7" (nihilist punk from italy that just dont give a shit) JOSHUA FIT FOR BATTLE-to bring our own end cd (crushing NJ emoviolence) CIV-set your goals cd (poppunk/HC) THE RITES-fuck em if they cant take a joke 7" (NJ thrash) UPSTAB- somebody hit me with a gallon jug of thunderbird 7" (ex H100s jerk thrash from clevo)
Only one new one this week so far: Meat Beat Manifesto - Autoimmune. Also on the playlist: !!!, At The Drive In, Big Lebowski OST, Pixies, Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
oh, how could i forget my weekend jamzzzzz: HENRY FIAT'S OPEN SORE-idiotica hyperactiva cd (the goddamn best band in sweden, maybe all of europe. garage rock played fast as fuck) PANIC AT THE DISCO-pretty.odd. cd ( best pop record i have heard this year. cheesy at times, with some trite lyrics, but im liking it a lot) DROPDEAD-first lp (second wave fastcore, pummeling your teeth out 35 seconds at a time)
I actually have been listening to that M83 you mentioned, Warren, cos Jeph Jacques over at Questionable Content mentioned it had been leaked, and he recommends good shit usually.
The tail end of my 'New Shit' Playlist also has some (all of) In Excelsis, one of those post-punk sorta gigs from back when, Sebastian Tellier's new album Sexuality because dirty french electropop is never a bad thing, and The OMD Singles by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.
Besides the new stuff, I'm also listening to The Sisters of Mercy, Roxette, E Nomine and Nightwish, mostly. And some mixes by Kev36663 and Tacopunch.
I heard this song everywhere on my trip to Tokyo and now I've finally found it. I also expect my brain to leak out of my ears within a few hours (cause: 1m:37s onwards).
FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND-casually dressed and deep in conversation cd (poppy whiny music, that strangely features a refrain of BACK AND TO THE LEFT that i never noticed before) MARS VOLTA-bedlam in goliath cdr ( weirder the more i see through the magic) I AM THE RESURRECTION/ OFF MINOR split 12" (emo violence destruction) HEWHOCORRUPTS-ten steps to success 12" ( tongue in cheek grind with songs about climbing the corporate ladder, expense account lunches, new 3 piece suits etc...)
