Anyways, I'm fully on board with Deadwood. For me, it's easily the best piece of work I've seen on television. Milch is a genius, and has a compassion for character that's very, very rare. I agree the third season's maybe a little off, but I thought Hearst was incredibly fascinating. Clearly, somewhat of an homage to Milton's Lucifer, but how oddly driven toward commerce, to the point of killing those around him, and yet how conflicted he was about "crushing his own kind," is just so incredibly fascinating. "Agreeing upon its value, we organize to seek the color." It's like he sees gold as this great equalizer of men, and longs for it, and can't tolerate those who don't seem to understand, what to him, is the one Truth about gold: that it in some sense it can set men free.
Maybe this is irritating, but I could talk about this show for probably a year straight.
I watched John. I was okay with John... I mean... I've never seen Ed O'neil give a performance that ridiculously good. I can't exactly say how I feel about the show as a whole.
And, lastly, I like the Wire. I watch the Wire. But does anybody else ever get the feeling that sometimes it's just a bit heavy-handed. I get the sense the show's a little too impressed with itself, and occasionally crosses the line. And I miss Bodie. But I love Snoop.

I remember when i got hooked, i saw only one scene. I believe it was the second to last episode of the first season. Swe-gen just switched whores and starts off on a long tale of how his mom left him at an orphanage.
It starts off "I was fucking her, now I'm fucking you" he goes on about some stuff, asks her a question, and then upon hearing the answer he says "Shut the fuck up! Dont open your fucking mouth, unless your gonna stick my prick in it." another great line in the scene "Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, eh? Slow the fuck down, you got a stagecoach to catch or something?" and then proudly ends the scene with "You can go ahead and spit that out, you aint gotta swallow it."
Yeah, Im still thinking Al would of left after one of the fires, having his saloon burnt down, to no fanfare and Trixie would of been the only one to notice.. I think it would of been a nicer ending than what happened in real life, the real life Al was much more evil, from what Ive read...
I still have to see season one...it looks great but I can't afford the season, I don't have enough memory to download and bloody Lackluster video only rents the individual discs of season two (because they are hip like that).
There is a book called Deadwood by Pete Dexter. It's pretty good - not amazing-excellent, but passable. A lot of the same people, but they have a tendency to act very different then they do in the show, especially Sol Star.
My roommate and I just finished Season 2 the other night, I find myself calling everything and everyone around a cocksucker, it's awesome. Great show though, too bad it didn't make it into a forth season. Everyone has already said how good it is, so anyone reading this, if you haven't seen it, go, right now and watch that show. It is clearly some of the best TV made recently. (I love period pieces of that sort too.) I'm looking forward to finishing season 3 as soon as the netflix get here in a couple days.

Rome WAS awsome, i got the dvd and watched the entire first season i one day. I so want to buy the second one and watch the whole series in two days, but the second season should be ondemand here soon...
I dont know why i didnt post this earlier..... I use this as my voicemail, except instead of being about pancakes, its about voicemail. I get alot of messages that end in "Cocksucker"
That was funny. I miss that show a whole lot. I really wish HBO shows on DVD were cheaper. When it comes out on Blu-Ray, I might buy it anyway.
Loved Rome as well. Especially the episode where Luscious and Titus were in the gladitorial arena...damn that was brutal. I'd like to give the Tudors a watch. It's out on Blu-Ray in the UK, so I might import it.
I guess i'll have to pony up for Season 1, my buddy was telling how i needed to watch this show..but as always i heard everyone else saying how good it was and thought it can't be any good if everyone's into it...99% of the time im right.
I was really on board for Sopranos, i realise it was all James Gandolfini that kept me interested and Paulie Walnuts, paulie, Paulie...now thats a Spin Off id watch, when they did that little old pic of a young Paulie and Tony talked about what young Paulie was like, i thought thats a show.
I dug the second season of Rome much more than the first. "Attia of the Julii, I call for Justice. Attia of the Julii, I call for Justice." Way, way awesome. Easily my favorite episode of the show.
