    I just got back from my Florida trip on Saturday....it was enlightening. Here's some of what we found....

    Here's one of the first gators I've seen in the wild....

    Gravid smooth green snake...

    She was a happy girl....

    Random ribbon snake...

    Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. Most dangerous snake in the US.

    Nice captures! You are a far braver soul than I when it comes to rattlesnakes and gators. I'd be using my telephoto for those buggers.

    Thanks for the compliments! (And yes, much much much zoom was used.....I was not about getting bitten by the rattlesnakes)

    @musehick: We were all over Florida....primarily anywhere north of Clewiston....

    @SpiralTwist: That's an interesting article. I had no clue until now.

    This owl was very cool about getting it's picture taken.

    Gator's ass was had.....only for a moment....we put it back...

    A BEAST of a yellow rat snake

    Here's another yellow rat that was found in a tree...it just ate a rabbit....and then puked it back up in the car....smell was there for hours...

    Gopher Tortoise!

    Cuban frog.

    Was not too keen on getting close to the cottonmouth....

    now that son of a bitch, or armadillo kept coming at me while I was tripping sh rooms seriously, I thought it was the goddess deity,I mean seriously look at those hips. LOL fucking hell. but yeah that was a strange trip, theres only one place in KANSASS that that can happen to you and I'm pretty sure I'm one of the two people that can show you them there, and still have a good time. I found another indiginous species to KANSASS, of the stoner breed, it was like he road in the car with me to this spot. But I swear I have no idea and that the mutherfucker appeared after I took the photograph seriously like a UFO. HA

    The palm trees in that picture actually look like they're pretty healthy. They just do that - shedding the old, lower branches over time. The places that are tourist ready, or celebrate a particular type of civic tidiness, hire someone to prune them regularly so they don't look like the sad, molting bastards they really are. This can lead to folks thinking palm trees are unhealthy when left in their natural state.

    Great pictures, Spoon. I like the spanish moss and live oaks, especially. They're tremendously soothing to look at, and nothing beats a live oak for climbing. Even if it weren't for the fantastic low, windy branches, the bark has great traction, so you can just sidle up the thing if you don't have enough footholds, or walk along the branches 'cause they're wide as sidewalks on the oldest ones.

    Very, very nice pictures! I'm not much of a snake guy at all, but I have to admit that green snake was pretty darn cute. That cuban frog, though, he's one unusual-looking dude.
