    Neon Neon's Stainless Style. Gruff Rhys' involvement with a project is usually a sign of quality for me, and this is no exception.


    I dunno. I was really excited for it since Trick For Treat emerged last summer, but it falls well short of my expectations. It's not bad, but it's not nearly as good as a Furries or a Boom Bip album. I reckon I'll get fair mileage out of it as the weather warms up, though.

    This morning has so far been about Radiohead In Rainbows and Panda Bear's Person Pitch.

    @joe.distort... don't worry about musical picikness, its all new to me. I stopped listening to brutal stuff after the second Machine Head album, and heavy stuff generally after fucking my ears up in my friends car to 'Shut Up and Drive (Far Away)' by the Deftones.

    My ears stopped ringing last year and I've been slowly been increasing the volume of my chooooons.

    And death at a grindcore gig doesn't sound to bad, maybe a quick ticket to VALHALLA?!?!?!

    haha, i guess "sort of" would be the answer. when you buy records from a distro box at a show or other strange places, you come across stuff that you arent familiar with. i hate to say it, but in most sub-sub-sub genres of music, if you know your shit well enough, you can pretty much tell what a band is going to sound like from the cover/name/ art style/ lyric sheet/thanks list. so in a rounddabout way: yes. of course, there are always some surprises, like a crusty looking record that turns out to be pop and vice versa, but it is still good to have some general knowledge.

    Oh yes, Harmonia Mundi is something like Criterion Collection at the CD labels. And the CDs are very expensive, but the quality of the recording, sound, etc., well, are really awesome. I had some Harmonia Mundi CDs, compostions by Monteverdi and some polyphonic medieval pieces, and this "Missa Mexicana", that I found in a CD store with another customer's profile. So, the price wasn't so high.
