    I call shenanigans

I second that! But after getting snubbed by the Eisner's as well, not much of a surprise.

I actually boycotted that part of the vote. Avatar has been putting out such wonderful, terrifying and innovative stuff, it deserves recognition above and beyond anything Marvel and DC are doing.

I think having DC AND Vertigo is also a bit of a cheat.

Seems very bizarre considering the quality and popularity of output. Hmmm...

I figured atleast Black Summer would be recognized for an Eisner or something. The thing was in papers and everything and had great reviews from everyone I read.

"No, Mikey, it doesn't have the Marvel or DC logo, throw it in the bin."

"But it's a western story and an anti-christ story by the writer of Preacher. And this one is a futuristic story filled with cool science by the writer of Transmetropolitan. Look at the lettering, the artists... take a look at this Waller guy, his colors are --"

"Do you see the Marvel or DC logo?"

    "DO YOU?"

    "So where does it go?"

    "In the bin."

    "Good boy."

    Crecy gets robbed TWICE!

It will be interesting to see how many of this years winners will still be in print in some form 10 or even 20 years from now, compared to the books we knew should have been nominated. I am predicting one of those slap in the forehead moments years later, sort of like reading a 1991 Wizard that tells you how smart people were for buying 500 different X-Variants while stuff like Bone and Sandman were obviously never going to go anywhere...

Seeing as Avatar has some Grade A talent on board already and are adding Alan Moore to the stable, there's no way they're going to be overlooked like this again.

    Here's to next year fellas.

there's always something strange about the eagle awards, the process from nominating and what actually ends up on the vote list....

Stop giving a fuck about awards, seriously.
