The last ones: "Only Heaven" - Young Gods "I'm your fan" - Leonard Cohen's tribute "Zul'm" - Muslimgauze "After Murder Park" - The Auteurs "Songs of Leonard Cohen"
I've been itching for a Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip album, and now it's out there in the wilds of the internet. It's called Angles, and it's okay. It's patchy and a bit too preachy for my liking, sadly. Flashes of brilliance, enough for it to hold my interest, but ultimately not as good as it should've been.
Absolutely loving the new Why? album, Alopeica, right now.
nine shocks terror- zen and the art of beating your ass lp (cleveland nutjob thrash, hugely japanese influenced. plus the back cover has some sweet kirby rip off art!)
So far this week: Bomb the Music Industry! - Punk-synth-ska-hardcore, catchy, anthemic and great lyrics. All there is stuff is free online at BTMI! Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - Great punky indie-rock. Saw them on the 20th and they were incredible, the studio versions don't even compare. Less Than Jake - Typical ska-punk. I haven't listend to this band in years and they popped up on shuffle the other day and I realised that Borders & Boundaries is a really solid album. Shannon Murray - Sweet-voiced folky stuff. All her stuff is online for free at Riot Folk The Clash - It's The Clash. Boris the Sprinkler - Vaguely demented 90s pop-punk with songs about absolutely nothing.
1)boris the sprinkler is super great. reverend norb is one of the funniest writers around!! 2) if you like ted leo, you should check out his first band CITIZENS ARREST. then have a compare and contrast session, haha- CA is brutal as hell.
Rev. Norb is great. I love his Razorcake column and his Dylan cover album was sweet.
I've heard some Citizen's Arrest. Pretty average 80s hardcore from what I heard. I'm not usually angry enough for that sort of music and if I am I'd much rather listen to Bad Brains.
