    Welcome to Whitechapel.

    The best way to start these things is to get everyone saying hello. So please introduce yourselves in this thread, adding a photo if you've got one (trust me -- the web works much better when people see that there are real people on the other end of a post).

    Obviously, if you've said hello in previous Introduction threads, there's no need to do it again.

    We don't insist on real names here. I find it helps, but, frankly, if you want to be a completely fictional invention of yourself, go right ahead. Hell, I've even known people who have started out fictional and then become their own invention.

    I didn't introduce myself in April, so I'll do it now:

    I'm a freelance writer, game designer, and graphic artist based in Atlanta, as a carpetbagger from Chicago. I've recently left salary work in the paper-gaming business, as developer of Vampire: The Requiem and numerous other gaming products, and am trying this year to get by on freelance work alone. As a game writer, I'm experienced. As a writer in the real-world, I'm a green mooncalf. I'm also a periodic contributor to The Escapist, where my first short-fiction sale, "Griefer", was recently posted.

    I blog at the Gist: thegist.wordstudio.net and the game/storytelling commentary site Gameplaywright.net. I'm a frequent Twitterer (as wordwill), and every Friday I write a Ficlet, like batting practice.

    This summer I'll be at Wizard World Chicago, looking for an artist for my first comics project (creator-owned or pitched out, depending), which is intended as a 3-5 issue miniseries. I'm also writing and developing an indie RPG from scratch: Tomorrow War, which is just entering playtesting.

    I work in a bookstore. I attend the Metropolitan State College of Denver.

    I'm intensely dull on the internet, but slightly less so in person. I want to be a writer; I'm currently working on (read: have written a chapter of and think it sucks) a 1930's mystery involving a clockwork golem and murder.

    Hello all! I'm Jeff. Online I go by SpartanLoneWolf. I started reading comics when I was in my "war-against-acne-and-clicks" days in high school. I don't remember much, probably because I have somewhat of a bad memory, or I wanted to forget about it all so there's this psychological barrier that a therapist with several PHDs wouldn't be able to crack. I took a sabbatical from comics to 'find myself'. I thought about joining the Army and this is what they said about me after an initial assessment:

    There's a part of you that is strong willed and resilient: not one to give up easily, you like to see things through to the bitter end. You can see yourself reaching great heights. With a little perseverance and determination, you'll get there. You learn best from someone who can inspire you with their knowledge. You like to be able to soak up as much information as you can and have respect for someone who knows their subject. Humanity holds a lot of interest for you, you are fascinated by lifestyle both here and abroad... you are observant, this serves you well as you find it easy to connect with people from all walks of life. Satisfaction comes from being part of something distinctive and innovative. Employers would value your dedication and passion for your work. In the next few years you hope to satisfy your adventurous ambitions. You're up for a challenge, and determined to succeed.     As best as the above passage describes me, I was kinda bored by them. So I joined the Marines instead. It was a lot more fun, shooting things, blowing stuff up, camping and doing a lot of running. Luckily my tour was in between the Gulf War and the 'War on Terror'. My parents are grateful for my timing!

    After my stint with the Corps, I went to college to get an American 'ejuh-mah-cation'. Now I'm in debt and at a job where none of my skills that I learned are being used. No, I'm not flipping burgers. I'm a webmaster. When not slacking off at work, I'm actively involved in my hobbies of: comics, videogames, computers and anything that would label me as a 'geek' or 'nerd'. Both labels I am proud of.

    I've recently started reading beyond the two mainstream publishers and was given the suggestion to read some of your [Warren] stuff. Of the trades I've picked up, I've enjoyed them all and I am enjoying FreakAngels.

    George Mink here! Philadelphia native, I am. Been here a while, think it's about time I introduced myself. I've always wanted to draw comic books, but here at the age of 27 I feel like I'm about over the hill, and find myself writing plot notes more often than I actually draw anything. Feel like I'm all alone, here in Philly, like I'm the only person with an imagination and capable of cognitive thinking. It's sad, and what with the Electromagnetic peaking this time of year, I feel the suicidal thought creeping into my brainmeats. I think Ratpoison is the way to go. Same ingrediants as toothpaste, and they put that shit in our water, too. Illuminati bastards. Anyway, lets see if I can add a pic under here

    Howdy,

    I'm Brian Gascot. I'm a student from San Antonio, Texas. I'm also a writer and an artist-in-training (I love to draw, it's just the actual skill I lack) who has also thrown off the shackles of wage-slavery by quitting my lame video store job.

    I'm a huge graphic novel fan and I am currently working on a graphic novel. I've called it Renaissance and I'm also kicking around some ideas for other stories.

    I need to learn to draw. Any advice on becoming a better artist would be greatly appreciated.

    On a personal note, I'm glad to be on this board with so many people of such creativity and of course, the always spectacular Warren Ellis.

    I'm Eliot, live in London, kind of here to abuse it as a resource and find out new things by seeing what you all like/don't like, then probably (if history is a good judge of it) disagree with what you think.

    As a result of my stupid contrary nature I will likely not say anything. I would rather not make enemies, just friends, which is usually better done in the real world (don't even start to take that the wrong way).

    It's usually easier to list what I hate, as it gets it out of the way; punk music, manic street preacher, children, marriage, fey/twee indie music, Morrissey and whatever band he's in, and all that baggy stuff and joy division/new order.
    There's more, but I forget.
    Although there is one thing I love, and that is elipses ... I usually use them more than proper punctuation ... which may grate a little ... sorry ... I've tried to pare it down for this post (not this paragraph).

    I'm also trying to get hold of some alcohol that Mr. Ellis posted on his site:

    Purely because a protracted emigration to the states has turned a two month party exit of the country (instead of a leaving drinks, I chose a leaving two months) into a four month debauched life. I'm basically enjoying everything that various alcohols have to offer and attacking my liver like an SAS kill squad.

    Hey Whitechapel, I'm Todd.

    I don't have a pic of my ugly mug available right now as my main PC with all my crap on it died on me and I'm still waiting to get my mobo back from Asus so I can rebuild it (suffering serious game withdrawl too since it was also my gaming machine. D'oh!!!!!).

    I'm currently an internal tech support rep with a company here in Canada, I read voraciously, game on my PC and just got a Wii so I'm all cracked out on virtual golfing at the moment. I also aspire to be a writer but find my fiction doesn't seem to go anywhere right now, but I keep at it anyways. I also dig mountain biking and snowboarding and can't wait till my son gets big enough to get his first tricycle!

    Hi. Name's Kevin. I'm a Probation Officer in Boston and dream (dangerously) about writing for the funny books. I'm rubbish with technology and haven't a clue how to do a lot of what those in the know do with all this stuff. I can be found on myspace.com/saintsyn and, well, that's about it.
