I think it's a comment on the Freakangels idea of "live and let live." As long as he doesn't mess with them too much (since it WOULD be 10 on 1) there's no use in blatantly doing wrong.

As far as the issue, though, some really great panels this week. I like the double-width ones, and the fish... oh the fish. I think it says a lot about Arkady's character just in that one panel. To wit: my daughter (who is two) makes it a point every morning to say hi to our fish, and every evening to say goodnight. I think the simple purity of Arkady's spirit really comes out in that panel. (Well, and the one with the merry-go-round.) Just make it a point to never piss her off.

I think that the comment was saying that Karl and Luke were saying that they took it upon themselves to kill Mark, as the other nine wouldn't have gone along with it... Seems like everyone else thinks he was just banished or some such, but these two actually tried to snuff him out.

I don't know about everyone else here, but I will go back and read these same pages 4 or 5 times over the week til the next episode. I wouldn't normally read a graphic like this, leaving a typical 20-30 page print read maybe twice between it and the next issue. The results of the relatively short length of Freakangels along with me to reading/looking so many times lends quite a lot to story immersion and missing very few points.

As stated in a previous post, I'm not big on stating personal observations as to story and details and discussing them, so I won't give the examples I'm privy to. because this is a very long series of very short connected episodes that make a whole, there's room to think about how everyone that we've met so far, and them that we haven't yet, fit together -
my experience with warren's work means that i trust him to tell the story well and to make the listening worthwhile, so it's like letting puzzle pieces find places on their own in my sense of things and just get really comfortable, knowing full well that they won't stay there for long. it's a different sort of a challenge. i'm loving it.

also, i love that it's still not long after 10 in the morning (which is the best time of day ever, in my opinion)

And this was a great episode, a nice pause after last week's action. but they all have been great episodes so far really. I love the pacing, it is so natural- the action and pacing in comics is highly constrained by the physical limitations of the medium, i.e. page length, which sometimes detracts from fully realizing the narrative possibility- stories and dialogue seem really rushed, etc. but that isn't an issue with Freakangels, which is wonderful.

Arkady rocks. She does resemble a more responsible, human version of Delerium of the Endless (a Delerium with humanity). She seems to have abilities that the others may not even have- seeing the future, teleportation- I wonder if she is amongst the most powerful? Or if they all have such abilities? Or each one has some different abilities? It seems a little unlikely, really. After all, the whole thing is framed by the single breakfast conversation of Karl and Kirk, suggesting that all Arkady's activities are taking place in the time it takes them to talk. We don't know that the other Freakangels don't know that Arkady can teleport (if she can)- I don't think we know enough about their powers to know whether or not they're all identical or even whether they can all teleport and just don't.

Consider this, what if it was the overdose that pushed her enough, to enable the teleporting? All of them seem to have some gifts in common, but maybe the teleporting and clairvoyance are unique to her. Yes. Although the more I think about her "teleporting", the more I think, what if that's not really what's she's doing? Rather that's what we perceive? Rather, I read it as a sort of time-lapse montage showing what Arkady gets up to - ie she dances around and she has fun and she enjoys life in a simple, almost childlike way, whereas the others are all serious and depressed and cranky.

This could also explain why she could "see" in time. She didn't predict the future. She might just have been there.

So instead of teleporting, she is moving reality around her. Like a warp engine doesn't make the spaceship move through space. It moves the space around the ship.
