    I am completely in love with the Arkady character. I am already planning my costume to cosplay her at some point. I especially love the "barbie dolls" hanging by their hair from her jacket!!!! Brilliant.

    Yet another post bowing down in awe of Paul Duffield's work on this! The "fishies" panel is stunning, as is the gather flowers panel. An intriguing little tour of Arkady's world.

    I caught myself wondering why we haven't seen or even heard a mention of the Freakangels that haven't appeared yet. Wondering what about them kept them hidden. Too much BSG, I think. When I rethought it, it's only been a morning in the story. The others haven't shown up yet because they weren't people Connor wanted to talk to about Alice, and nobody we've followed has run into them yet.

    Looking forward to running into the rest and finding out what they're like!

    Anyone else think that Arkady could've saved Mark? She might've decided to give him another chance, in exactly the same way as Luke.

    And of course, this strip is just honestly beautiful in every way. So good that I registered to say it. It's great that you guys are putting this out for free when I can't really think of anything on the shelf that I'd rather buy.

    Just realized I haven't said thank you Mr. Ellis and Mr. Duffield for the free web comic. I'm enjoying it a lot: The format, the bite sized pieces, the intriguing story that unfolds and engages the reader in an almost casual way and the charming illustration. Lovely thanks.

    My money's on some form of astral projection, although she does appear to be interacting with her surroundings. The reasoning: the manner in which they are connected to each other, where the Freakangels are able to generally sense moods as well as concentrate and share thoughts, makes it hard to believe that they'd not be at least be suspicious of 'Kady being able to teleport, either by direct mental linkage or through inference via impossible physical interaction.

    why does the fact that she is shooting around to all these place mean they are happening within seconds of each other? they used to have those compilation scenes in all those movies that compact months of activity into a short period of screen time. this could be like that. couldn't it? a filmic technique. just a thought. because it felt like it could have been tracked to one of those musical moments in a film where time just melts away and the freedom of the character is expressed in a rish of images and sweeping and soaring music.

    Yes, this episode is lovely, and I truly find the artwork breath taking. Thanks. What I really like about it is that after stopping Luke, it would have been easy to leave her there as the unknown force of the group, yet instead an instalment was spent on her playful side and giving her a greater depth so far than any of the other characters. Wonderful.

    It seems a little unlikely, really. After all, the whole thing is framed by the single breakfast conversation of Karl and Kirk, suggesting that all Arkady's activities are taking place in the time it takes them to talk. Plus, the scene where she's talking to Alice, and Connor's in the shadow of the door, the fact that he's calling out to Alice and then the scene cuts away I thought seemed to imply that Arkady was going to vanish before he could get an answer.

    @ David Matthew

    We don't know that the other Freakangels don't know that Arkady can teleport (if she can)- I don't think we know enough about their powers to know whether or not they're all identical or even whether they can all teleport and just don't.

    But given that she appears to be carrying things from one place to another and moving stuff, she does appear to be physically there, and it certainly looks like she's teleporting.

    I don't think it's astral projection, mainly because of the flowers, fishies moving between her fingers and the kids on the merry-go-round. Maybe she is teleporting, maybe she's just stopping people from seeing. Oh, and I don't think that all of the Freak Angels have the exact same powers, also because of Arkday's premonitions.

    Actually, I'm sort of reminded of Bill Hicks's explanation of human evolution. "'I think we can go to the Moon.' That's EXACTLY how it happened." Perhaps, 'Kady's overdose helped her along? If the Freakangels are the next step in human evolution, maybe Arkady is the next step in Freakangel evolution?

    Of course, this is assuming that the Angels are, themselves, human.

    Then there's that one bit where she's on the tower where it's very unlikely she climbed...

    @kaoiln

    Haha, yeah, I was wondering why people weren't mentioning that bit. Well, I'll provide no definite answer :) It's much more fun when images can speak for themselves.

    That was the panel that really made me think she was teleporting. As others have said, projection of some kind came to mind, but her interaction in the scenes sort of rules that out.
  6.  (2059.55)
    @synthsapien

    I think she is teleporting also.

    Consider this, what if it was the overdose that pushed her enough, to enable the teleporting? All of them seem to have some gifts in common, but maybe the teleporting and clairvoyance are unique to her. Which now makes me wonder what makes the other's unique, if anything (just because she can do something unique, doesn't mean everyone else can too)?

    Janine was surprised that she vanished. Both KK and Connor heard her voice but indistinctly, and didn't assume it was her. Not much of a sample to go on, but I'd guess that at least the non-Freakangels don't know she can teleport. The other Freakangels? Hard to say. She wasn't KK or Connor's first guess, but their first guesses were the most likely given the circumstances.

    Remember that in the previous episode, she just showed up in the room while Luke was ranting. Her slipping in while he was ranting, I could buy. And even her slipping out on Janine, though when she vanished at Janine's place, I thought "she teleports?", and the following pages pretty well confirmed that. Though I do have to remember that Mr. Ellis is a tricksy fellow, and first guesses with his stuff are frequently wrong.
  8.  (2059.57)
    @ Spiral - Exactly my thoughts. I suspect the others are fairly similar in power levels with Arkady being the exception due to that incident. Maybe they know, maybe not. With hundreds of pages to go I expect the others will develop, or at least some will.
  9.  (2059.58)
    @synthsapien

    Yes. Although the more I think about her "teleporting", the more I think, what if that's not really what's she's doing? Rather that's what we perceive? Maybe she's walking between the fabric of reality and appearing on the other side, at a different point - so it looks like teleportation to us, but she really isn't it.
  10.  (2059.59)
    @ Spiral - same difference innit?

    Po-tay-toe, po-taa-toe... :p
