They don't have cows in zoos, silly.

That fear is your basic survival instinct kicking in.

    Have fun!

They should have cows in Zoos, which is a better place for them than stomping through the woods and preying on the unwary. Godless beasts that they are.

W, She dropped part of her tongue. Can you go get that for her? I will get the iodine and the sewing kit!

Bodymod pics don't get any better than the split-tongue and split-penis shots.

I have a huge interest in critters so I get drawn to zoos...some of the critters don't seem to mind being in captivity..some of them down right love the attention. Out in Cincinnati they have a parrot that loved showing off on his perch. He would pose for pictures and sing songs, and do acrobatics. They used to have a female crow (it was the one that was on all the nature documentaries. She would build tools and her mate would steal them from her), who would yell "HELLO!" when you came near, then tucked her head under her chest so you could scritch her on the back of the neck. Out in Louisville they have a big ass Polarbear I saw this summer who would dive down into the water and do a beautiful and comical ballet of bearness under the water for the kids watching. He would swim right to the bottom of his tank blowing bubbles past the big glass window and then he did a summersault and he wooshed past the window.
But I've also seen the misery and boredom on the great ape's faces. I've seen them get pissed off about being watched and throw poo at people. I also saw a pissed off lynx piss on my ex husband...which was halarious...but I also saw a mother elephant pacing frantically back and forth in front of a gate, waiting for the zoo-keepers to release her weeks old baby so she could nurse him and be with him. It was for his own good but she was so very upset, she kept butting her head against the gate and made pitiful snuffling sounds...
dammit...there I go ruining the lightheartedness of the thread...

Yeah in DC people are rude to the apes. Its kind of sad. Such intelligent critters...

I do appreciate the exposure to the world's animals. I almost went into Biology in college (but i hate that was right out)...Most of them I'd never have the chance to observe otherwise in my lifetime. I especially love the insects...
I attempt to attend our town's monthly Reptile and insect convention every now and then to check out the thousand dollar baby snakes and giant bird eating spiders. the guy with the giant insect booth makes it a point to feed his spiders and giant centipedes live mice while i'm near his booth. I'm rather disturbed but fascinated by the hunt and capture and he knows it. i think he's hoping i'll buy his big ass spider he keeps in a five inch deep tupperware tub with no lid.

Im kind of spoiled by having the Smithsonian not far from where I work. (like a block) Then the zoo is a 25 minute train ride. I need to go more though.
