I've seen the 'terrorist' activity map before. It still shows tenuous info - 20yr old with souvenir WW2 grenade, marketing ploy gone wrong - hardly terrorist activities. As long as everyone is scared we can still spend money on guns!
“It didn’t directly threaten anyone — or anything,” said Lynne Maslowski, director of student services for the School District of the Menomonie Area (SDMA). “Basically, the student wanted to be at a different school in a different district, and then there was a drawing.”
So... it wasn't really a threat? On a threat map? I think it's just preying on people's fears that they're never safe ever. I can't remember who said it, but it's something akin to "if you frighten people enough you can get them to do or believe anything."
Those are the ugliest maps I've ever seen. The content may well be interesting, but once they burned through my retinas, I could no longer see to figure it out.
@stevewallace - i don't know about "nothing", but i see what you mean.
thing is, most of our meatpacking industry is staffed by undocumented workers. Christmas time a few years back there was a raid in Grand Island - that was great for the state's PR - take a bunch of parents away (as in really far away) from their children, many of whom were born here and had no where to go, right before the Christmas holiday. i know that the little flashy things are about events that happening RightNow, but i suspect a certain level of omission. then again, this is a state that does business with Cuba contrary to US's embargo. they are weird here.
