I started out tonight prepared to post a story about Honda's ASIMO robot conducting an orchestra, and the fear it instilled in me that the robots will soon be coming for us. Instead, the story I was looking for was gone, and I found this:
I for one, think Fusion Man and other superheroes will be here to save us from the Ultrons.
Man, I hope so. Of course, the robots will likely figure out how to make better jetpacks before we do, and will have no fear of flying them like we would, but there's always hope.
I, for one, consider this to be one of the greatest developments ever. Even better is that the jet pack was made from existing technology. The jets are German built model aircraft engines fueled with Kerosene producing 200lbs of thrust each. Although it's not planned for production, it's definitely a step in the right direction by a brilliant Swiss bastard.
What I appreciate most about this guy is that he built a release and parachute into the thing in case it fails and he has to survive a long fall, implying that it has failed before and he put in a backup system.
