Still it was the Ultimates that gave the capes enough credibility story wise for me to start getting more interested.

Iron Man was the first morally grey hero.His human identity is someone who bought and sold weapons on a large scale and didn't have a problem with who bought them and why they were using them.Supers up to the point of his creation worked clean cut jobs as reporters,policemen or pilots.Tony's moral compass has never been as precise as someone like Superman's and I think that's what makes him so interesting and rich as a character.He's a billionaire who doesn't always face his problems head on and hides behind a glass of scotch or his body armor.
