    Tried to get them to perform at a club night I used to run with Red, but the transportation cost for solid-state coils is phenomenal.

    This is possibly the coolest thing I've seen. Ever.

    And thanks for posting the explanation. I like knowing how things work at least as much as the spectacle of it working.

    Hm... iPod + portable Tesla coil = musical death ray?

    I think I would make mine play Jules' Ezekiel 25:17 speech from Pulp Fiction to fry someone to death. If they weren't busy getting zapped they'd probably be laughing.
