    This is the best of all possible news for Dr Who. I'm still waiting for there to be a good episode this season, the last two were brain damagingly bad. Two weeks till the Moffat two-parter...

    I'm actually pleased Moffat got the job. I have loved all his episodes, they are often the best in their respective series'.

    I think Davies was great in his way, and he revitalised the series, if at the cost of its seriousness. Moffat could quite easily fix that, having made family friendly episodes that are still emotional and smart.

    What I'd really love to see now is some really, really smart ideas and wouldn't it be cool if maybe some of Britain's comic and sci fi writers got to do episodes? I'd kill to see a Mark Millar, Grant Morrison or Warren Ellis episode (Ellis has already shown he can do a smart, kid friendly story that's really enjoyable in Justice League Unlimited).

I know he will treat the series with an childs and an adults viewpoint which is sooo made of win, lol. also i can now hope to see sally sparrow once again, and maybe they can do a do over with the whole donna thing like year that never was with martha, we could have the companion that never was hehehe. sorry tate fans....

    I read an interview with Steven Moffat and he mentioned that he would want to bring the 'Silent' Cybermen, like in 'Tomb Of The Cybermen', back.

    Hopefully he does. These 'alternative Earth' ones the new series brought in have got to go after that 'epic' confrontation they had with the Daleks.......

    Also, with this affect Torchwood in any way??

    Torchwood. There's a show I need to catch up on. Loved the first season, but I've missed the second season due to my shift changing to include Saturday nights. Not much of an excuse, I know, but television and myself have an "on again/off again - Love/Hate" relationship.

    Anywho, if it does alter anything, hopefully it won't be in a negative way.

    Y'know, I was reading Neil Gaiman's journal a while back where he and Moffat were geeking out over Doctor Who.

    In fact, he just wrote a little parody of David Tennant doing Hamlet as the Doctor.

    LITG suggested that next season, Torchwood might have an ongoing storyline. With the current showrunner leaving and the promise of episode-to-episode consistancy, I'm feeling optimistic about it.

    I think the idea is to have an overall progression with Torchwood instead of the "you'll do this ep, you can do this two parter" etc that the show has been the last two years. And the fact that there was no "show bible" just shows mean they really didn't know the characters (apart from Captain Jack, and that's more Who's doing).

    Hopefully the new characters next year (with Martha, cross fingers) will give the show a better season. With all the characters coming back from the alt-universe this year, it would be very cool if Mickey came to work for them as well, as the new tech-guru. (according to the ep commentaries, Tate is leaving at the end of this year, so guesses is that Rose is coming back properly again).
