Today, in response to Lore Sjöberg's position that Twitter asks the "most boring question possible: 'What are you doing?'", I twittered nothing but lies. Fires. Blood. Parachutes. It was plainly obvious, I think, but I wonder, would Twitter be better if we all dialed up our answers to make up for the question?

My feeling is that, no, it wouldn't be better. The mundane question is part of the point. How you riff on the 140 spaces and the audience you're given is the other half of the point. No matter what you put in that box, you're still sort of answering that question.

A single comics panel can be beautiful, but the individual panels isn't always why we show up is it?

I find it quite fascinating to find people starting to follow me spontaneously. I know some people find it a bit...disturbing.

Yeah, I find it uncomfortable when strangers follow me. Not, you know, hugely. But I'm suspicious of anyone who would want to watch me.

I feel kind of voyeuristic following people I don't know well or haven't followed me back. I feel like I'm eavesdropping on conversations.

    Which I am.

So I dunno. The whole twitter thing is sort of un, though.

Oh twitter. some times i ignore it, sometimes im in a chatty mood - http://twitter.com/tmofee - if anyones interested...

I put random stuff in my twitter feed; strange things I've said or heard, links to things that've caught my interest. Sometimes I chatter with/at people. And I have no clue who half the folks who are following it on me are. I don't +follow a lot of people because I have trouble keeping up with stuff sometimes; so it's no insult meant if I haven't +followed someone. I do enjoy the strange little conversations that occur on it that might not've occurred elsewhere.

    My twitter's over here.

I started a Twitter account when I was sick with pneumonia.

No idea what to do with it post-procedure now that I'm on the last two days of antibiotics.

    I posted this just now:

starting May 1st, what do I do with Twitter?

My life is not interesting enough to warrant a Twitter account; so now what?

Use it to follow other people's Twitter accounts?

Use it to post fiction, The Good Captain style?

Use it as a commonplace book?

I get different values out of Twitter from different people. I follow Will's and Scott Kurtz' tweets because they alert me to stuff they're doing on the Web that I want to see. I follow R Stevens' tweets because I get acid flashbacks from them. I follow Warren's and Reynolds' because I like knowing there are people out there who are even crankier than I am.

I don't know what people make of the stuff I tweet, and have only a dozen or so followers at this point, but I figure if I get entertainment out of this I ought to be contributing something.

It was odd when people I didn't know started adding me on livejournal, on twitter it's less odd and more expected because it seems everyone has random followers.

i started just out of general curiosity and because several people i know in person were using it... and now it's become quite the ridiculous addiction... but i've "met" many people through it that i wouldn't have otherwise, and i've definitely noticed an increase in traffic on my site, my flickr or whatever else i link up on twitter.

Ditto. I'm overwhelmed on some days, especially if I haven't checked my twitter all day. Pages of tweets to sift through at times. Course that gives me a very god reason to be on the computer more often.

Personally, I see it as a spontaneous tossing of thoughts into the internet wind. And its kinda like a worldwide public text messaging system. You can text EVERYBODY! Heh.

I've gone over this thread carefully. New phone's plan comes with unlimited txt and I think I'm reaching that Twitter tipping point. I'll report back later.

I am prrrrrrrrrobably the biggest dullard on Whitechapel, and I love Twitter. It suits my Northeastern sensibility: say what you want, then fuck off,

Twitter's pretty fun. Quite nice to post such ridiculously short points without trying to stretch an experience or thought out into a long post.

You obviously haven't seen the flow of gibberish that constitutes my Twitter.
