I cancelled after about four issues because I thought this was Ennis treading water. This idea was done first and done best in Marshall Law.
I thought Preacher was great for about the first 50 issues and then became a self indulgent love letter to the central characters. Can't deny that is showed great ambition which is what I found missing from The Boys. My own favourites from Ennis are his Hellblazer run, the Unknown Soldier mini series and the completely underrated Pride And Joy. The latter had none of his shock tactics or gross out humour, just real people facing real problems and resolving them by talking (OK, after lots of shooting). HIghly recommended.
I'm having a time out until I can learn some manners.
I am a total sucker for Ennis's sense of humour. I loved preacher ,one of the main reasons I loved it was the way Ennis can find what is beautiful and ugly about America better than almost anyone else. Now that someone said how the Boys was the replacment for Hitman it all makes sense to me.
The boys would be worth picking up for Love Sausage alone.
